Wedding license question...

Does anyone know if you can get your marriage license on the weekend?

I haven't heard of any marriage license locations that are open during weekends. The good news is that it doesn't take long -- We went to Hempstead on Thursday, and it took no more then 20 minutes.

I have two questions actually..... how soon before the wedding should you get your license and does anyone know where in Queens you get it? If not Queens where in Nassau do you need to go? Oh... and what kind of ID do you need to bring?

You can go to Hempstead Town Hall in nassau to get it - Washington Street and Peninsula Blvd. in Hempstead - you can bring your drivers license and your birth certificate to get it - i only had my license but they allowed me to use my insurance card b/c it had my social security # on it. It took 20 minutes!!!

I think you need to get your license no more than 60 days before your wedding and no less than 24 hours before your wedding. In suffolk, you get it from the town hall. Check out this web site, it has good info for NY State http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/consumer/vr/married.htm
