Am I the only one that hears a song on the radio or IPOD and thinks 'I have to have this song played at the wedding'?
I just heard Depeche Mode's 'Just Can't Get Enough' and I had to write it down. I've been keeping a list of 'must play songs' in the back of my notebook. At this rate I should just put an IPOD on shuffle because I have 30 songs on the list - that'll last the whole night. Too bad FH is going to vetoe 1/2 of them

Re: Wedding Music
I don't think I want to have too many songs on a must play list. I think it might work easier if the DJ just goes with the flow and plays the popular stuff. Of course, I'll probably have a few requests. I do know that I definatly have a few songs for the do not play list!!
Yeah, FH's Do Not Play list is HUGE. He is a music snob, which is why he will probably veto 1/2 my choices.
I know 30 songs is WAY too much, and I know when the day comes I am just going to let the DJ do his thing as long as certain songs are played.
Since I am not getting married in the church I figure I can have some of the romantical songs played as guests are sitting for the ceremony, and I'm thinking 'Just Can't Get Enough' would be good for the recessional after we get married. Just thinking about it makes me smile.

I do the same thing too! I plan on having a must play/ do not play list, but i don't want to go overboard with it. there's one song in particular i don't wanna hear, lol. most of the girls on hear know what that is!

Re: Wedding Music
I keep doing that with looking for our first dance song. The only request I will have for my DJ to make is no rap. I dont listen to it, FH doesnt listen to it and my parents complained about all the rap music that was played at my cousins wedding.
I am having a problem, I have no idea what songs should be played during the ceremony, will the DJ have some kind of idea of this if they are used to doing weddings all the time??

I agree with this....I'm going to tell the DJ what we like and let him do what he thinks will keep the party going....just no chicken dance

Oh trust me, you are not alone. I do that all the time. I have a list of songs that I must have a list that I DO NOT want to hear. I think my list of DON'Ts is a little longer though....lol....me and FH have such different taste in music so I anticipate an argument..lol

Re: Wedding Music
i cant believe i'm about to admit this... but i will be driving home, listening to my ipod (i have a 30 minute commute)... and i'll hear a song... and start jamming in my car... thinking about... 'i hope this is played at my wedding'... then i start picturing all my guests dancing to it... perhaps forming a little circle where people take turns getting in the middle and busting a few moves...
this is why i sometimes seem to miss my exit and end up in KINGS PARK!!!

Well, I don't miss my exit, but I do that all the time. I get really happy thinking about people dancing at our wedding.

Re: Wedding Music
i do to. i actually wish i could lay out which songs to play... but i totally understand that you cant do that to a DJ. they need to do what they do.
