Just curious as to how many people already living together are going to a hotel on thier wedding night? I assumed we would get a nice suite somewhere but now i'm not sure what to do. The more I think about it we wouldn't get to the hotel until about 1 or 2 in the morning to have to check out by 11:00 and spend a minimun of $300 for it. What is everyone else doing?

Why do you have to spend $300? Do you really need a suite? Just get a Concierge room or something.

Re: Wedding night...
Since we're trying to save on things and we live together, we'd figure we'd just come back home. You know, we'll probably be out late, we might even go to the local bar after as an after-party thing, so we really wouldn't be in the hotel for so long. It seems pointless to waste that money when it can go towards spending money for the honeymoon instead. Of course, if you don't live together, it's pretty much a must.

Re: Wedding night...
I'm a believer in 'you only have one wedding night' and since we already do live together I definitely wanted a hotel room! So that way I feel its something different and special! Another thing is we are leaving for our honeymoon the next morning and I didn't want to break the 'flow' and excitement. Does that make sense? We are spending $250 to stay in a regular room in the Garden City Hotel. Even the standard rooms there are beautiful! JMO

Re: Wedding night...
we are signed up for the suite at the Wyndham Windwatch for $250 that night, but we are probably just bumping it down to one of the blocked rooms for $109....we have to be up before dawn to get to the airport and we didn't think it was necessary to spend that kind of money...that's what the honeymoon is for!

Re: Wedding night...
fyi - most the hotels we checked for our wedding night offered late check out for the newlyweds.
The Marriott in Uniondale has a wedding night package where they leave champagne, bride & groom t-shirts for you and includes room service breakfast. That was less then $300 in 2002.

We own our home already but won't be living together until after the wedding and will be staying in a hotel for the wedding night.

we're staying at the uniondale marriott bridal suite for somewhere between 250 and 300. (don't remember the price). I can get a regular hotel room anytime... i want the perks! Plus we'll be having people hang out after the wedding, so we need the big room

Re: Wedding night...
FH booked the wedding night hotel and put all of the info in a sealed envelope on his dresser. I don't know where we are staying. I do know that it is on the Queens/Nassau border and it is sort of like an inn/B&B. Any ideas of what it is?

Re: Wedding night...
we are getting a room for the wedding night, for two reasons..
we live in Westchester and will not feel like driving home after getting married on LI .. and
we aren't taking our honeymoon until the following Friday after the wedding, but want to do something 'special' and make ourselves feel 'married' ... going home to our apartment would feel just like any other day, and I want it to stand out!!

Re: Wedding night...
I really do want to stay in a hotel that night...i'm just trying to justify spending the extra money. This wedding is costing way more than expected and i'm also thinking about adding on to my photography package so I thought this would be one way to save for that. But I do totally agree with the comment 'you only get one wedding night'

Re: Wedding night...
we're staying at a hotel because the alternative is to stay at my parents house (or schlep 2 hours to our apartment in the city and then back the next day for a brunch)
quite frankly, the idea of staying at my parents house on my wedding night is scarier than anything, not because of anything going on in my childhood bedroom, but more so because the idea of holding my FH's head over the toilet while he pukes all night from drinking too much is not an image I want my parents anywhere close to!

Re: Wedding night...
I really want a hotel room for the wedding night but FI was fighting me on it. I'm sure he'll come around. i don't want anything to extravagant (sp?) just a basic room. I don't want to leave my wedding and go home to our teeny tiny apt it kind of feels like it will kill the wedding high!

We're staying at a hotel even though we have a place together b/c it's too far to drive back home.

Re: Wedding night...
We are staying at The Marriott in Uniondale, we did not opt for the honeymoon package, we have to be out early the next morning, and I have to go home to feed my cats at our house. We got a larger room at the Marriott. And having them chill a bottle of champagne for us. We will be laving for our mini moon the next morning early, and we will be going on out honeymoon in July. Fh is a teacher.
