Wedding on the Beach

Wedding on the Beach

Hello all!

Sort of weird posting in this forum, since I am not the bride! hehe

My fiancee and I are starting to get the basic planning for our wedding down, we picked a date in June 2011.

She is in love with the idea of being married on the beach, she loves the water and I think it would be a great unique experience.

We are starting the phase of cost, this way we can plan accordingly and know how much a budget we will be working with.

Our initial idea is to rent a house in the Hamptons with a private beach, have our ceremony and reception there.

While I have been able to find some resources already, does anyone else have experience with this and be able to provide some tips

My other thought is that I wish to outweigh the cost of renting a house, having it catered, etc or having it done at an establishment like The Crescent Beach Club which looks like they great service as well.

I know its going to be a lot of additional planning if we choose to go with a house, but hey, its once in a life time

Our biggest thing is we want to do a different service then having it in a hall, and I think doing it on the beach will do the trick

Thanks!

The cost of renting a house and having everything catered and tables and chairs brought in and all that will most likely be a lot more than a place like The Crescent Beach Club.

With the Crescent Beach Club you can have the Ceremony, Cocktail Hour and Reception outside and if by some chance it rains all of that can be moved inside.

There are a few other places on LI that do this type of thing..Atlantica, Gurneys, Pavillion at Sunken Meadow. I think it all depends on your budget.

Renting a house for the ceremony and reception sounds like it could be a very unique, intimate affair. If that's the way you decide to go, I'd just suggest arranging hotel blocks earlier rather than later. Places out there tend to book quickly. Also, keep in mind that your guests may be required to book more than one night, as most hotels and B&Bs in the Hamptons have minimum stay requirements during peak season.

Another idea may be to use one of the vineyards on the North Fork. You may get the non-conventional event that you're looking for, without having to take on so much of the planning yourselves.

One of the many, many things that we have been worrying about is weather - the what ifs drive me mad at least if we rent a house.

I have to say I feel a little more comfortable with going with a place like Crescent because that it already taken into consideration, as well as the many other things.

One of them is parking, I worry that around 120 people its going to be hard to park all on one block.

I have been reading that the cost of doing something like we said with renting a house and doing everything on our own will either equal or be over going with a hall, that is what I have been thinking about as well.

One of our friends (who are in the party, ha) knows someone who has two houses in the hamptons that they rent - and the info she gather was exactly that, the price might just be over.

While we are still in the early stages of planning, I am looking into Crescent and a few others that I can get recommendations for.

We would look into other places but she is set on the beach hehe

One other thing to keep in mind before you rent a house is that there may be local ordinances that you have to check on. I used to rent a summer house with a group of friends and there were strict noise and parking rules. We were only allowed a certain number of cars in the driveway past a certain time and street parking wasn't allowed. The rules probably vary from town to town.

As far as beachy places, I'm obviously partial to Crescent Beach Club, but you could also check out Lands End, Glen Island Harbour Club, Surf Club, Atlantica, and Gurney's Inn. I'm sure there are others, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Hi and welcome!

My fiancee and I actually went back and forth with alot of what your thinking right now

But we have decided to go with the Crescent Beach Club. We visited Lands End which is spectacular- however loved the service at the CBC much better- so far so good wedding is for june 2010!! Good luck- your much better off having a the wedding at a place because you will be so worried about everything catering etc that you may not enjoy your day :( not to disappoint

anyway congrats!! FM me if you want price specifics on the CBC
