Ok so I have a problem with choosing the bridal party ... I have a big family so I said for those brothers and sisters who are married & have kids their child will be in the wedding and those siblings without, they will be in the wedding ...but my main concern is FH's brother (he only has one) & he has four kids so I was going to put 2 of his kids in the wedding, but of course FMIL has a problem with that she said that he should be the best man but FH doesn't want him to be the best man, So she said i have to put him and his wife (that i am not even that close) with in my wedding... So I said it's not fair to my family and sisters that have kids if I put both of them in my wedding so I decided to put his brother and one child and if any of my family says anything I'll just tell them well he only has one brother... So my dilema is this ... If I put his brother in the wedding party do I have to put his wife ???

Dina,
You have to put in the people YOU want in your bridal party...it is nobody else's choice but yours! Im not putting Fhs sister in law in..I love her and would love to have her in but i cant add anyone else! If you are not close with her than personally you shouldnt have her in it

Your day You way! You shouldn't put her in if you are not close to her....The bridal party is reserved for close friends and relatives the peopl who really know you!

No other spouses are in my wedding party .. the married siblings have kids so they arent even going to be in my wedding party, their kids will.... his brother is the only exception ... and I dont want to take someone out just to put his wife in!

Re: wedding party dilema
dina come on... youre SO much smarter than that... you do NOT have to put her in the bridal party... its YOUR bridal party. If you were closer with her, i would definitely say that you should do it, but youre not even close with her! I be she'd actually feel a little awkward in it, too.

I say don't do it, you don't have to do what you don't want to. I'm still debating on having FH's sister because of how she handles things. I can see all my bridesmaids fighting because of her. Do what YOU want to do !!!

I say absolutely not.. she is not even up for consideration. Just becasue she married him doesn't mean she should be in your bridal party. I can really understand putting his brother but you shouldn't put somebody that you are not even close with just because FMIL says so

Pushy inlaws make me Screw tradition and etiquette. The point of a wedding party is to have people you love and are close to stand up for your marriage. You definitely don't need to include anyone you don't want to.

Re: wedding party dilema
I just read this now. I know what youre going thru.
FH took it upon himself to ask his friend and his friends son to be in the wedding. I dont have a fg for the boy but thats ok. SOOO the other night we were with them and I was like Great, do I have to ask his wife now?
AND another one of his friends GF's thinks shes in the wedding too!!
Ya know what tho?? If they werent asked, theyre not in it. Stand your ground if you feel strongly about it...honestly it can get messy!

Re: wedding party dilema
I can totally understand what your going through, I am going through something so similar... and sadly I lost,,, just because I didnt want to fight.... So my advice would be do what YOU want to do and dont be a push-over like I was.
