Wedding Planner

Hey guys,

I met with a wedding/event planner this weekend to help with everything. Her name is Tammy, she said they initially worked with just invitations, namely the company Sincerely Yours, but for the last ten years she has done event planning. If anybody knows of her or has any recommendations about it - I'd REALLY appreciate anything. She explained the way she works is by percentage, for example, if you're total wedding budget is 30,000, she gets 30% so she'd get 9,000 off the top of that. She said the lowest she goes is 25% but to me that sounds like a lot. Is the the normal amount or not? I have no idea. My mother and I really need the planning help but we don't want to get ripped off either. PLEASE help!!

Re: Wedding Planner

Do you need someone to make appt for you or do you need someone just to oversee your day. That seems kind of high I thought it was 10%-15% of your budget.

We wanted the planning part also not just DOC, like making appointments, and coordinating flowers and linens and dresses, that kind of stuff.

Ok check out the website below. They are a vendor here I just think 9K seems kind of high. Look at the silver sixpence package that sounds like what you are looking for maybe.

That sounds really high -- I am jsut thinking back to all of those wedding shows where they have planners and you find out the budget for the wedding and then how much the planner cost. For the smaller budget weddings (usually under 40K) the planner is at most 4-5K, and I think sometimes even less than that.

I also spoke to a DOC and her fee was 1K for weddings in season and 750 for out of season. Just as a frame of reference.

Re: Wedding Planner

My wedding is this Saturday and I am having a DOC. I am using Sassy Swanky Affairs and they are amazing. They have helped me so much more than I would think a DOC should. Christine and Jen are so sweet and helpful. If they do this much for me and I only hired them for my DOC I can't imagine how awesome they would be at planning from start to finish. www.sassyswankyaffairs.com.

Good Luck!

Sorry I think that is way to much money.
You should look around.
