I got a day of coordinator only. You got married on my birthday......great choice :)
I too just hired a DOC coordinator that I am soooooo happy with! I feel like I've done so much of the planning myself and am enjoying it, but I didn't want the stress of the day of and trying to figure out how to make sure what I want to happen that day will go off without a hitch (since I'm supposed to experience my wedding, not coordinate and direct it!). I feel like this was the perfect way to accomplish all of that.
I got a DOC to help the day go smoothly. A lot of people say it's unnecessary but I think it's helpful to my sanity the day of the wedding.

Not doing it...my bridal party is an amazing group of ladies and they have it all together. They're going to be very helpful (and already are)

Nope, I did everything myself for my wedding and it came out beautifully. The only recommendation is def get a coordinator for the day of your wedding to help sort and organize your to do list. Otherwise it can get a bit messy esp when you have to tip your vendors and pick up the personal flowers and stuff. Other than that, it's really easy to plan and do everything on your own but you just have to make time to actually sit down with vendors, go through contracts, carry your vision through and make it happen!
