Re: Wedding planner
One of my BMs is an event planner (actually used to work for the Vanderbuilt in Plainview) anyway, she is away on business but I will ask her is she knows anything when she gets back. And if you do a good job, I know a few other girls who are on the verge of getting engaged! they may like your help!!

Re: Wedding planner
It's not very easy to just become a wedding planner. I am an event planner by profession and I do wedding plannning independently. I have also been in the business since 1996. I would recommend seeing if you can work with an event planning business on LI or work with a banquet hall. This will probably help give you the most diverese experience and a good crash course in wedding planning. There are also organizations out there specifically geared towards wedding planners and the wedding planning industry.
