Wedding plans have changed again.....

Okay...I know I'm become a pain in the booty about where we are getting married. LOL, I can't even decide which country. My FH and I had a long talk and now we have both decided that we will have our wedding in Long Island. For a while we were all set on Jamaica but after input from our friends and family and really thinking about what we want on our day we've decided that we need to have it here. I can't bear the thought of my FH's grandma and grandpa not being there and they would never be able to go to Jamaica. We have decided to do this we are going to have to sacrifice many things. We may not have limos, videographer, honeymoon, nice invitations, etc..I'll probably buy a used or inexpensive gown and we may not get all the bling that we want for our bands but I think we will be able to swing it.

We are going to our top 3 choices Westbury Manor, Larkfield Manor and Leonard's of Great Neck on Wednesday to make our final decision. It will really come down to who can give us the best deal. Then we will probably sign a contract. Wish me luck girls!!

Good luck! Although a destination wedding is beautiful it is nice to be able to have the people that you want at your wedding.

Also, have you considered some of the places that include photos, video, flowers etc...?? I know Meditteranean Manor and Brentwood Country Club do those.

Yeah having his grandma and grandpa means a lot to him and I would like to have all the people we really care about with us on our day.

I did look into those halls mishmosh. Unfortunately the packages are for 100 people. We really only want about 50 or 60. Also those packages don't include everything, dress, rings, etc....and I would like to spend no more than about $10,000 total. We've looked at close to 30 places already, when we were first trying to decide. We've narrowed it down to those 3. We are shooting for a Sat or Sun afternoon wedding. I really hope these places can accommodate us.

there are brides who also have a $10,000 budget and are getting married in LI, you can do it...i know i had read about 2 or more brides on the 07 board who had that budget and they are making it work...maybe post there and ask for ideas.

If you get married at the Rh then you wont need limo's

Dress-ALOT of girls bought dresses from davids bridal for $300-500, maybe even try sample sales

invitations-make it a DIY project but there are also alot of inexpensive sites that sell invitations

photographer-there are girls who got packages for low prices, if you don't get the albums from them this will cut costs greatly, albums alone are in the upper hundreds and alot in the thousands for just 1, you can make your own albums on shutterly or snapfish. You may even want to look into student photographers, alot of them post on craigs list and seem will even do it for nothing.

at the RH make sure to bargain, tell them to take out certain things to lower the cost...champagne toast can add up to alot so ppl take this out. Fewer entree choices and also CH choices, pick a friday or do sat afternoon or sunday afternoon. Some girls are even booked for a thursday...recently some were even talking about the day before thanksgiving on a wednesday since everyone has off the next day, so try to see what will be the best bargain at the RH

make up and hair-go to a salon rather than have them come to you, they charge more for that...If you go to a local salon that you have used before than you can even get it for a good price maybe...Some salons charge even $40-60 to do hair, depending where you go. And make up can be around $30

DJ-some girls got packages for $800-1000, but there are some places you can even get for $500

flowers-go to a place like burtons, or go to a wholesale place and buy the flowers yourself and DIY, you can do low cp's and keep it simple, add candles for an extra touch...some girls even go to a local flower shop or ive seen a couple girls go to certain supermarkets.

anytime you are just gonna have to shop around and really get the best deals but if you put your mind to it you can do it...like i said though post this on the 07 board you can probably get even more helpful advice

Good luck with your planning..If you go to Westbury Manor see if you can meet with Mel he is wonderful that is who I booked my wedding with. Although I'm sure everyone is wonderful there!

It's ok to change your plans. You have to do what's right for you and fi. I feel the same way about not having to let your grandparents travel too far. My grandmother is up in age and I don't want it to be an extra burden. Let me know what you think of Larkfield and Leonards. I think I have a pretty good idea of which one you wiill eventually pick.

Larkfeild Manor is our place, Harry their is really great, you get a lot for your money there. My MH got married at Leonards, it was beautiful, and I don't think she spent too much.
