Okay, I've looked into Costa Rica and it seems to be a bit pricey compared to the other islands for a Destination wedding. I want my guests to come and want to make it as easy and affordable as possible for them. So I think I might have my wedding somewhere else and stay for 4 nights and then FH and I can go to Costa Rica or Italy (FH asked me to look into this) by ourselves and enjoy our honeymoon in privacy. This way we don't have our guests sticking around for our whole honeymoon either. What do you think? The Adventura Spa Palace has a great wedding package, the upgraded deluxe package for $1,555 and it might be a lot easier for people to get to Cancun. Also there are many cheap accomadation options for them to choose from if the don't want to stay at Adventura. I plan to check out a lot of other resorts and destinations as well but I think this seems like a better idea. Anyone have any suggestions for a destination that is affordable and easy to get to?

Dominican republic is probably very cheap, and very cheap for guests to come and stay there. Also look at cabo,not sure about that one though

PLEASE just be aware that September is still hurricane season, so any Caribbean island (except for only one of them - I think Bermuda) and most of Mexico is at risk.

One of my co-workers is doing her destination wedding on a cruise ship. It's a cruise that leaves out of either NY or NJ and sails to Bermuda I think. Anyway, she's doing this so that anyone who wants to see her get married but not actually go away or can't afford to go away can still go on the ship for the ceremony and the reception afterwards. She got a really good deal on it. That's always an option for you too.

I have been to 2 destination weddings. One was a cruise and the other was in Vegas at the Bellagio.

I have been to destination weddings in Cancun and Puerto Rico. Both were great.
Dominican Republic is usually not that expensive, but it depends on the part of the island. Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo are cheaper than Punta Cana.
