Wedding Programs

Programs are not a must...they are a nice touch but if you do not have them your guests will probably not even miss them.

I think they are stupid and quite comical infact. I like a program when I go see a broadway show.
I have been to many weddings and I really don't care what the name of the tenth bridesmaid is.
Same goes for menus. I would rather see the money be spent on enhancing the cocktail hour. That is all people really care about when they go to a wedding anyway.

Agree and they were a lot of work.

Yeah, I think it'll just add unnecessary stress. I know two brides who were up late the night before their wedding still working on getting them printed. People won't miss them.

I know its a matter of opinion if you have them or not but some people are curious about who the members of the bridal party are.

I did both programs and menus because I felt that they were a nice touch. My guests did like them. I actually still am getting compliments on them. I made them myself and in total they BOTH cost me about 25.00.I certinly could not enhance my cocktail hour for 25.00

Re: Wedding Programs

I totally disagree with the comment that they are comical. I think it is such an individual choice. For me - my brother and father passed away in the past few years ...the people coming to our wedding are all aware of how hard it has been for me not having my Dad walk me down the aisle. My program lists out the readings and the names of all involved and has a tribute to my brother and father. It's the only place where I could write something special in there about this situation and I know my friends and family will find it incredibly moving. Your wedding is a reflection of you. You don't have to do anything you don't have time for or that will stress you out. But in my opinion, I always love reading special comments written in the program. And as for making them - I literally did a Word document in landscape and will then just buy some inexpensive ribbon at Michael's to tie around them - they are inexpensive to do if you decide to do them. And they do not have to be elaborate. Good luck with your decision and do what you are comfortable with and think makes sense for your guests. For mine, I know I made the right choice.

i don't think they are a MUST, but i really like them. even if you just do a quick run through so people have an idea of what's going on and who's who.

as for them being 'stupid and quite comical'...i think the same goes for that entire post. i enjoy all of the special touches that people work hard to make for their weddings, such as menus and programs. sheesh.

They are not a must. I'm having a 30 min ceremony and feel like it's extra money and work that is unnecessary for me to spend.

I don't think they're stupid at all.. Actually I really believe they're a nice touch, but it's completely your call.. it is YOUR wedding. I'm doing programs but not menus... I pay alot of attention to detail and small things like programs, etc, personalize your day a bit more...

Just needed to add this... I don't know about everyone else.. but the people attending MY wedding only care about seeing our union.. They'll eat dogfood with celery garnish if that's what's served.. Your wedding is about people sharing your union..

While they are not necessary they are an added touch to your ceremony just as personalized menus are an added touch to your table.
I chose to add programs because we were having a full ceremony and I wanted my guests to be apart of the significance of what was going on. I went the less expensive route and purchased DIY menus and programs from Michael's, they have a great collection from Brides Magazine that works with all sorts of themes.

I've been to a wedding where the couple didn't have a program. I didn't even realize that there were no programs till after we left the church. You don't need them.
Like the other girls say, it does add a special touch to your wedding and makes a good keepsake. A simple 1 page wedding program is easy to make and does not require a lot of time.

I really dont think you should be calling anyone ideas or opinions 'stupid'. that's just rude! As is some of your other comments on other threads. Perhaps you should filter yourself a little better.

I dont think they are a must.. but i definately can appreciate the time and effort one puts into them. I will be doing these... as I belive they are a cute touch. I think it's the details that all come together in the end that make your wedding just that! That's waht makes it unique. And I actually enjoy reading who is who in a wedding! So I like the idea and I think if you have the time and energy then go for it. If you don't have it in you then it's ok to skip it.
