How do you pick from that 'together forever' book or whatever it's called...since I didn't pay attention much, I forgot and now my friend is telling me that there is some kind of sequence...have no clue what the means..anyone anyone? I think there are two readings you need

At the very back of the book, there’s a pullout that gives you the exact order

Usually its a reading each from the old and new testament and a Gospel reading
