?Wedding Registry

?Wedding Registry

This is a second wedding for me. I was married in 1993 the first time, so it has been 15 years. My sister-MOH-is having a bridal shower for me but doesn't think I should do a registry. I wanted to get some opinions on that. I thought it would make it harder to buy a gift without a registry.

I think if you are having a bridal shower then you should have a registry. No harm in that

Why doesnt she think you should register?

i would register only for the things you dont have or upgrades of stuff you would like to replace. I dont know if she wants people to have the freedom of getting you whatever they want or if she is expecting people to give you cash/GCs...I would find out why she doesnt think you should register

I think if there is a shower- you need a registy. people will be asking where you are registered.

ETA: if you fel weird about having one, maybe set up a donation registry or a honeymoon registry.

I can understand why she doesnt think you should register. But if you are having a shower people are going to buy you gifts anyway, so you might as well get gifts that you want.

I've been a shower for a bride for her second marriage. The people invited didn't get stuff from a registry either, instead we all chipped in together and purchased the bride a weekend spa trip and an LV bag.

I guess the sentiment is that you create a registry because the first time you get married, you are starting your first home with your husband, therefore you'd have less of the household items. Whereas, with a second marriage, you've already accumulated items from your first marriage, so it might seem inappropriate to receive more household items.

This is a great question to post!

Personally...I would not be offended if I was invited to a shower for you more than once! Also the whole point of a shower is to 'shower the bride with gifts!' So I am all for registering.

Ok so how many people are you having? I w ould definitely keep the registry small...maybe 30 things tops! That way it doesnt look like you are being greedy! Or the honeymoon registry is a great idea! I have one set up through honeymoon wishes!

Re: ?Wedding Registry

Thank you everyone for your advice. I wanted to do the honeymoon registry. My sister confessed today that she is paying for my honeymoon! We were going back and forth on having a honeymoon since money is so tight. She said that we should not be staying at a $100/night place, that it needs to be something special. She won't tell me the details, just that it is very expensive. She said that we are going to need $250/day spending money for eating and other things. The restaurants are high end. Is there somehow of incorporating that into the shower? I know my mom was willing to contribute to that expense and maybe the FMIL. I thought for the shower you are suppose to invite all the women that are invited to your wedding? I am having 75-100 people, probably at least 50 women. Should I not invite them all? Also, this is a first wedding for my FH. TIA
