fiance and i decided not to have a wedding registry. we don't have a house or apartment yet. we are planning to live in my parents house for a couple of months then look for a place to live in. also, in that way, guests will assume that we prefer monetary gifts. but i feel like it would be weird not to open gifts on our wedding shower. lol. has anyone preferred not to do a wedding registry? whachu guys think ?

wedding registry questions
people will likely be very confused, and most will still get you gifts in the end- ones that you didn't want. I would register, and either store the stuff or return it for store credit. Also you could do a honeyfund. Not registering at all is just going to end up to be a huge PITA IMO

i can't picture people just giving money for a shower-i would still do a small registry and then just hold onto the stuff for when you have a house/place to live..trust me, you need A TON when you move in on your own, and having the stuff helps

Re: wedding registry questions
Register. I regret not registering for my engagement party as I was hounded by everyone that I didn't have one. I didn't even expect to get any gifts for it either. So for my bridal shower I didn't make that mistake. I registered. It makes all the guests happy, less trouble for them. Not everyone is happy with just handing over cash or a check for whatever reason. Obviously cash would be great but most people dont like to give that during showers. They give that for the wedding.
Anything you don't like you can return for store credit or hopefully cash! You'll definitely need things later on anyway.

If you're having a shower most people are going to look to buy from your registry. If there's no registry, you're still going to get gifts, but they will just be one's that you did not pick out. IMO I would rather pick out the things I want and store them.

people will definitely hound you. BUT if you're going on a honeymoon you can make up a honeymoon registry. It's pretty cool!

Even if you don't have a place of your own there are still things that you can use such as a bedding set, towels etc. Def register! And just store your plates, silverware and stuff like that until you get your place.
