Wedding Regrets...

Wedding Regrets...

Fh and I are so overwhelmed with wedding planning lately. We wanted to get married in Sicily, where we got engaged, but changed our plans to a more common type wedding here so that we could include more friends and family. We are both regretting it because it has made us realize that half the people we changed our plans for, barely give a **** about the wedding. I come from a huge family and so my aunts and uncles really spend more time keeping in touch with each other and I'm not super close with most of them. He is upset because we are noticing people in his family being different about our wedding than they were for his sister's 4 years ago. We think this is because his sister was a girl and so they were bride's side then and because of the economy (like for instance, people not sending engagement gifts to us who sent to them... we don't really care about the gifts but those same people didn't even send a card!). I'm also regretting how many people we invited to our wedding. There are a lot of people we are friendly with coming but I wish we were sticking to just close friends. I am sort of uncomfortable having people come who I'm not close to but we sent STDs already. I didn't want to say no to Fh and I wanted to make him happy so I agreed to ppl I really didn't want, but now he is regretting it too...
It just seems like the wedding is taking over our lives and our relationship... we are constantly doing for the wedding... I just kind of want it to be over with so we can get back to focusing on our lives and on each other rather than the wedding.
I'm not as upset as I sound. It's not like a nightmare or anything.... I'm just posting to vent and to let other girls who feel they are being swayed in a certain direction think before they just go with the flow like I did. HTH someone!

Yeah I sometimes have to take a step back and say that the wedding is not the world.

Fh and I just had a real heart to heart on the couch about this and about how we some how got into the mode of choosing major things (i.e. where to live, get married, what career) to make other people happy and how we need to start doing things our way for us and no one else. If anything, this wedding is a daily reminder that I have to stop being a people pleaser and we both need to figure out what we want out of life. I love him and want to marry him. It's going to be this way because we are so invested in the planning, but from now on, we are deciding things based on each other only. It was good to talk.

glad to hear you guys had a good talk, just remember that you two are meant to be together.. anyone who knows you can see that. It's about you two... and being happy. Hope everything works itself out..

Yeah it gets like that sometimes its overwhelming but it comes and it goes and its not a forever thing (the wedding itself). Make sure you do stuff thats non wedding related too its important. As for your family that just ***** is it to late to cancel and go to sicily like you wanted?

Yeah i know... i love Joey to death and 100% want to marry him. We are just going to have to shake things up a bit to do it our way... and be a little bit more outrageous like we usually are!

oh yeah I don't think for a second you are doubting that.. I know you guys are free spirits and it might be rough hearing all the opinions!

Yeah its too late. We just looked at contracts.

Its hard to do non-wedding related stuff. He's been in Texas for work for like 6 months now so we are stuck planning over the phone and we obviously can't hang out much bc of the situation. So that is hard on us right now.

I know its just an overwhelming moment. Other moments I'm totally excited....

Haha yes... his mom is sooooo opinionated. I love her like she is a second mom and she is helping so much with wedding stuff.... but sometimes she takes too much control... like when I told her I was thinking of dying my shoes a color other than white and she just looked at me and said, 'Oh no, you're not doing that'... Like final end of story. ARGH! But I really do appreciate her in so many other ways. She just came up for 2 days to help nurse me back to help after the surgery. She is great but sometimes intense.

I was thinking silver to go with the beading on my dress. What color did you want? Can I see your dress again? I wanted to know what it looked like when I was looking at your hair so I could imagine the whole look but I couldn't remember...

I was thinking of matching the girl's dresses too but they are brown and I didn't think that would look too hot with the wedding dress.

I don't think I've ever seen your dress. It is beautiful!

I do like when people do blue to do their something blue. It's cute...

Maybe you could do silver too... can't tell what color your beading is...

Whatever shoe you choose... make sure its comfortable!
