Wedding related---Can you really control...?

Wedding related---Can you really control...?

who comes to your wedding?

I know that may sound silly...But it's not...I am only inviting those in serious relationships to bring a guest...I am even going to write the person's name on the invite...But now I am worried that those people invited without guests will just bring someone anyway...Or what if they don't bring the person I specifically invite...I would NEVER do that to someone...But I know others out there may do it...Ahhhhh

A ton of DHs cousins brought 'dates' even though I told them the same thing you did....they were pretty embarrased when their 'dates' had no place to sit.

ETA: I had my catering hall come directly to me when people 'b!tched' about not having enough seats....and I dealt with it. It was a little extra stress for me, but my choice to leave DH out of his family politics. 2 of them left. Oh well....my wedding was not a night club where you can just bring someone, and that's how they were treating it.

I knew his cousins would be a problem, so I was ready for it. Only one other person caused a problem (we had a crasher) and I found out later it was intentionally done.

Usually, these things do not happen, but I unfortunately married into a very spiteful family.

I'm telling you to prevent this I suggest..

1.) Armed guards.
2.) Security dogs.
3.) 9 People dressed like giant tomatoes.

Seriously.. you let people know what your rules are before the day comes around.

They should repsect your wishes because it's your day. And if that doesn't help, go get the dogs and the tomatoes.

Where were you when I was planning my wedding!!!!!!

I do have to reiterate...if you are concerned tell people the 'Date' policy....and do not get bullied into writing 'guest'.....some people I even filled out for them how many people they were allowed to being on their reponse card. I might get flamed for being a bit tacky, but we were 2 eats away from our hall's (& our budget) limit, so we had to be strict.

Are there particular people that you think may cause a problem? If so, I would bring it up in a 'casual' conversation with them ...just to get the point across..

You can do it...don't be ascared! I have faith in you!!!!

I would try not to worry about it. I invited all singles with a guest, and nobody who isn't in a relationship is bringing a guest. Three people responded that they were bringing a guest, and now they have just told me that they are not. They might be happy not to have the pressure of trying to find a guest.

Well yes you can really control...you can have someone taken out of the wedding if you don't want them there, but then you'd attract attention and look like a royal b!tch.

I found out after we invited two of DH's co-workers that they were inviting guests. Not girlfriends, just dates. I was pissed but...I figured why fight it.

I asked my BM if there were a way I or someone else could single out a particular guest and have them removed. He told that when I gave him the seating chart I should somehow indicate on it who the potential 'troublemaker' might be and they would keep an eye out for it the day of.

As far added guests, I too think that you should let your single friends know where you stand on the issue and be consistent.

That's the plan.

I hadn't actually been worried about crashers...But geez! Now that I think about it!!! OH NO!
