I was invited to a wedding that my ex boyfriend will be attending with his new fiance and his immediate family. I dated this guy for 3 years, and almost got engaged to him.
The snag is that there is a moderate amount of bad blood between me, the ex's entire family, and his new gold digger... I mean fiance.
Though I have moved on - I clearly have pent up anger towards the entire group. I would love to avoid the whole scenario, because it will just makes me tense and brings back ugly memories. I know I should be able to go, but I would rather not.
My FH likes to be the stand up guy, and says I should be able to go to this wedding regardless of what happened. He is giving me guilt that he would like to attend this wedding with his FW, but he is willing to go alone. Plus - the couple getting married are friends of the FH that we have both known since High School and they are very nice.
Should I suck it up and go? After reading this - seems like I should - but I'm looking to the brides for reasons not to attend - or a good kick in the a$$ to show me how stupid I am being. Thanks!!!

Don't let all the crap ruin you missing a friends wedding. Keep a smile on your face and be polite for her sake. Sorry to agree with your FI - let him go and show off his FW!

Screw your ex and his family. Go to the wedding. You have a fh who loves you very much, and wants you to be there with him.

No, really, do whatever you can handle. If you can handle it, GO and wear an awesome dress so John can show you off!

Ronk: Go, enjoy and don't spend a lot of time worrying about the things you cannot control -- i.e. how past tense people in your life react. You have moved on, are better for it, and should not be cheated out of celebrating with a friend.

Re: Wedding Related - need suggestions please...
I have to break out the age old wisdom here.
'success is the greatest revenge!'
you are succesful in your career, you are in a great relationship with a man who truly believes in you... and you are a strong woman! they don't have the power to bring you down, and i dont see any reason why you shouldn't go and enjoy yourself. And also, i feel like theyre going to be all high on themselves if they see that your FH is there and you're not--- and they dont sound like the type of people that deserve to be high on themselves
Go and have a Great time!!! (oh, and if for any reason Anyone gives you a problem.... RUN to the nearest computer, Post your location, and we'll Immediately come to your rescue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Thats a hard one. I would personally prefer to stay home, but if your saying that FH will go without you if you do, then I would go, as I think it wouldn't look good for him to go alone.
It will be hard to go and keep to yourself but you can do it. It will be fine in the end!

I would go to make sure he knows he is not that important, because if you dont go he might think you were to scared to see him I would go

Re: Wedding Related - need suggestions please...
if you're close with the marrying couple i'd say go. worst comes to worst avoid the exboyfriend. it may not be the easiest thing to do, but sometimes ignoring someone is the best. and if you do get stuck near him, make sure to show off how great your FH is.
