Wedding Reviews - Long

I attended TWO weddings yesterday - luckily, the times really didn`t overlap, but we`re exhausted today! The first wedding was at The Metropolitan, in Glen Cove. It`s a great location for smaller weddings (100 - 130 or so), with only one affair at a time. It`s modern, and very tasteful and classy. The cocktail hour was upstairs, overlooking the first floor, where the reception was. The food, especially the appetizers, were amazing! The staff was very attentive and professional. Their DJ was Tommy`s Tunes, and they were great as well - lite MCing, and they played exactly what was requested by the B&G. Their florist was Pedestals, and the bride`s bouquet was gorgeous - simple roses, hand tied with a satin ribbon. The centerpieces were simple, yet gorgeous as well - roses, and other summer flowers in small silver bowls. The bride got her dress at Elegant Bridal, in Williston Park. Her dress was beautiful, and the store was helpful - no problems. The second wedding took place at Captain Bill`s Bayview House in Bayshore. Again, it`s a one affair at a time facility, right on the water. The cocktail hour was in the back, under a tent, but you didn`t feel that you were outside. I didn`t eat anything at the cocktail hour, since I was so stuffed from the first wedding, but the dinner was great. Their band was Pete Moss and the Fertilizers - they normally play at local bars and events, but they were fantastic for a wedding with a younger crowd! They played CD`s for the slower songs, and I have no idea how much they charge, but they`re definitely worth looking into. As favors, the B&G gave out personalized CD`s, but mine is either blank or not formatted correctly, because I cannot play it :( Happy planning everyone!

Oh my Goodness. We used to go see Peat Moss and the Fertilizers at Dublin Pub all the time. They are my FI's favorite cover band. He is going to be so mad! If he had known they played weddings, he would have definitely booked them for ours!

We booked our DJ about a month ago, but when I heard the band play, I temporarily regreted our decision! Like I said, I have no idea how expensive they are (I can`t see them being too high), but we`re still saving money with a DJ.
