its the purpose behind giving someone a 'ring' or in your case a 'bracelet' that matters. regardless of what you are given you should know in your heart if you are happy or mad. IMO opinion you should not have to ask

That's true. I really did like it but I just want to know if it's against like traditions or something if this happens to be our wedding ring.

I'm not sure, if its something that you would prefer over a ring then fine, the only thing is I would want some kind of a ring, just for the symbology of it. ITs very nice though and it must have been very expensive!

OK just to clarify....

- you already have an 'engagement ring'
- your FH gave you this bracelet that looks like a giant engagement ring that may or may not be your wedding band?
- your FH was secretive about it?

So you're asking if it's OK for this bracelet to be your wedding band? Or if it's OK to tell your FH you prefer a traditional ring?

OK, I'm still confused...

Sorry to crash but...
Other then being confused I just dont get it

You have a ring so obviously it isnt taking the place of an ering....but he was secretive about what it is for?

Its a bracelet, are you thinking into it b/c he was 'secretive' and want to know why

I just confused myself even more

ETa: How could this bracelet be your wedding band is what i want to know? And why are you referring to him as your special someone instead of fiance if you are engaged?

I don't know yet. He was being quite mysterious about the whole ring business. I actually haven't seen the ring yet...
The one in the picture is actually a bracelet. I don't know if this is GOING to be the ring or if he's going to present me with another ring later on. I'm confused too.

why don't you just ask him? a good relationship is all about communication and you should be able to do so. Did he hand you the bracelet and say nothing?

ok i should read the whole thread, this might've been answered haha

ok read the thread now. Sounds like its just a gift. You have an engagement ring, and its normal for a guy to buy his fiancee a gift. I think if he wanted this to be your wedding band which is what you mean then i think he would've said that.

and my above statement still stands. Why don't you ask him? if fh gave me a gift and was 'mysterious' about it or gave me a gift for no reason then i'd simply ask.

Exactly. You already have an engagement ring, so isn't this a gift he gave you because he loves you? And with a 5 KARAT diamond??? If your question is: should you keep it even though you'll never wear it? I'd say no. If it's a 5 karat diamond as you say, you could pay for your whole wedding for the price of a piece of jewelry that it will be clunky and uncomfortable to wear. If your question is: Is this my wedding band? I'm confused. You get your wedding ring when you exchange vows on your wedding day, so obviously it's not.
