I'm in love with a very particular wedding band, however it's more than I would like to spend, and I think it is actually far TOO expensive, for what it is. It's in a fairly trendy boutique in NYC...sigh.
Does anyone know where I might look in NYC to get this 'kind' of ring made? If I bring a picture of it to another jeweler, can they reproduce it?
I don't know anything about jewelry design, creation, so any advice would be great!
Thanks

get a picture of the ring and go to the diamond district. they are a lot cheaper. I don't have a particular name, just shop around with different dealers.

Re: Wedding ring question/advice?
i agree the diamond district is a good place to go. i brought in a photo of a michael c fina ring to them and they were able to quote me on it. also, you can check ebay. a lot of the vendors on there are also from the diamond distrcit but have stones on hand that they want to get rid of for cheap. you can pick it up in person to see it first. my cousin is a jeweler so if you need more info, let me know.

Thanks ladies. I think my FH and I will head to the diamond district this Sunday...are they open on Sunday?
I really appreciate all the feedback. I was wondering if it was frowned upon to try and get someone else's design recreated...

Not frowned upon at all. People do it all the time. Why pay for a 'name' when what you really should be paying for is the diamond and the craftwork itself. There are many places in the diamond district that will recreate work for you. Shop around and get some quotes.
And yes, they're open on Sunday. Most booths though are closed early on Fridays and closed on Saturdays entirely for the sabbath.

Re: Wedding ring question/advice?
I have a great jeweler who works in the diamond district but also meets people in his home in freeport during the week - FH didn't have to go into NY at all, he brought all diamond samples, etc to his house in freeport! awesome guy.

His name is Greg - if you call him tell him Jenn and Matt sent you!

Re: Wedding ring question/advice?
I also agree- get a photo and have it made elsewhere for less... it's nice to do it like that and lucky for FH and I that we found matching rings that were really what we were looking for and also within our budget.
