Wedding rings?

So I find myself faced with a dilemna - we have an extremely limited budget. We are paying for the wedding, bought a car, are building an apartment and paying for all the work and supplies, and need to buy furniture, rugs, cabinets etc.

Currently we had placed an order for custom made platinum weddings bands since I hadn't found any I liked. The custom made band would be less money then ordering one that I don't like but came from a jewelry store. Well now that we re-evaluated our budget and expenses and I called the jeweler to check on the bands, apparently the order was misplaced - they were supposed to call me back and let me know if they had it but havent yet. I've started thinking about just getting simple sterling silver bands for the wedding and then afterwards when we can afford it upgrade to platinum.

Any opinions?

im ny opinion, get the platinum...ddo you really think your gonna upgrade later on?...i know my self i probably would et too comfortable with the band and say no to a new band later...thats just me

Normally I would say to get the plat now. But, plat is at 25 year high (over $1000 an oz) so I would wait. It's falling (the prices) and right now is not the best time to buy gold or plat. Unless your jeweler isn't raising the prices (which most are, but if he is, get them) I would say wait.

I am extremely sentimental but realistically we need furniture and I can wear it on my right hand- plus my first college loan payment is due jan. I think I will have to hold off on the wedding band. Thank you girls!!

Same here. The wedding band I love is over $2500, which we can't spare right now.

We're getting matching plain bands and hopefully for a future anniversary I'll get the diamond band.
