FH & I hit up Fortunoff the other night just to look at wedding bands. (Of course the ones i liked were $$$) ...I know fortunoffs is expensive... we r headed into the city on Saturday to the diamond district....
#1- can i ask what the 'average' price is to spend on wedding bands? i know mine will be wayyy more than his. can u guys give me an idea by telling me how much you paid for yours if you got them already? im so clueless!
#2- we have 2 recommendations from friends on jewelers to go to once we are in the city...can anyone recommend a good jeweler in teh diamond district in NYC?

I guess it depends on what you want... gold, platinum, with diamonds, without, how wide the band is... mine is white gold, diamonds half way around and cost 700... FHs is just a plain platinum band and cost about the same.

Just so you know a lot of the exchanges will be closed on Saturday but one of the ones that will be open is Norman Landsberg 66 W. 47TH Street. They are a very reputable company and will probably be pretty busy. If you can (and if she's working) I suggest working with Beverly!

It all depends on what you want and what you're looking for.
Mine is white gold with diamonds halfway and I got it for about $650, which was discounted a good deal since we know the jeweler. FH got white gold for about $200.

It will depend on what you are looking for - I don't like diamond bands and picked out a 3mm gold band, it was about $150. FH got a titanium band for $50
My sister on the other hand likes lots of diamonds and spent $2,000 on her band. Her husband got a plain gold band for $300 and promptly lost it he's an electrician and takes it off to work, one day he took it off and then couldn't find it again

Most of the diamond district is closed on Sat, and closes early on Fri because of religious reasons. As far as cost, mine is $$$ but I have over a carat of diamonds in my band...his is only a few hundred because he's getting just a plain white gold band. I would make sure though that you go to someone you trust...we use a jeweler on Madison Ave because he's a friend of the family...

what are you looking for? FH got white gold, his was 325...
mine has princess cuts diamonds all the way around in a white gold band and i paid 1400 (which was actually the best price i could find!! )

I know that most people here the flea market and go ewe..but there is one guy in there, his name is Rami and he also has a place in the Diamond District...
He's very reputable and his work for custom stuff is amazing! We use him for almost everything and he custom made me this fabulous 6 carat diamond hoops that are absolutely gorgeous!
He guarentees everything and if there is ever a problem...hes right there!
He custom made my band as a tacori replica...its amazing, diamonds all around and on the sides too! He also did my engagement band to match! I am so happy with his work! It shines like nothing I've ever seen before! I'm not sure what FH paid for it, but I'm sure he got a good price!
He is custom making FH a pair of diamond cufflinks for my gift to him and I don't worry about it at all!
I bought FH's band there too and it was very simple platnium with a single small diamond and brushed platnium edging, cost around $600!
Worth a shot!

I can't help you with jewelers in the city because we bought our wedding bands at Fortunoff.
We spent about $5,000 total on our weddings. We each got matching platinum comfort fit bands. With the matching bands, his was more expensive because he got a larger size and a wider band (more platinum = more $). Then I got a channel set diamond eternity band. That was the most expensive one, over half the total cost (It's almost 2 carats tw in the wedding ring).
ETA - Bear in mind that the price of platinum is also really high and all 3 rings were platinum. If you're looking for gold bands, the cost will be a lot less. My e-ring was set in platinum, though, so I wanted all of the wedding bands to be platinum as well. Our platinum bands are heavyweight, so they were fairly $$$ as well. FH's was over $1,000, but mine was under $700 I think...

My jeweler gave me a great deal. I would recommend him. Michelle Lynn in Great Neck, NY on Middle Neck Road. He gave me a great deal on a diamond eternity band - each stone 32 pts.
The amount you spend really depends on what you are looking for. I couldn't match a band to my engagement ring, so I decided to go for something more substantial that I can wear alone.

I actually looked in the diamond district before going to Michele Lynn. Shawn beat every price that I was given there.
It is also easier if you know what you want before pricing everything out.

Oh comfort fit bands...I have a titanium in that style and it is the most comfortable flipping thing in the world! sldies right ona nd off -its not loose but I dont have to rotate my finger half off to make it slide down.
FH's is made of Tungsten carbon something-really hard so it doesnt scratch (WE TRIED! LOL) an his was 150? Mine I dont know what it was but Im guessing way over 1,000 because mine (I hav two-one for either side) were made for my ring as a scepial order and I believe the original much smaller bands were like 600 a piece.-its all diamond and enormous in my opinion because I wear simple silver jewelry usually-winces- But thats what he wanted to get me so its what I am wearing!

I have a custom made band with 6 princess cut diamonds and paid over $2000
DH has two - both white gold and has diamonds - we paid about $800 for both at Tri County Flea Market

Mine was cheap from overstock, because I don't have $1000s to spend on a ring (apparently, I'm alone there...)
FH hasn't bought his yet, but it will probably be more than mine because he wants an 8mm band (why, I don't know- he can't even where it to work as he is an electrician)
I'm hoping to keep his at $300 or less

umm i got a deal b/c i talked the lady into giving me 25% off the ring.. which i'm happy for so .. his was going to be 4700 and mine was $400..but his has no diamonds in it....min does... got sale price huh?? i never figure that one out...

Dh/Ditto! He doesn't wear jewelry and we were both nervous in case he lost it. So $200 it was We bought mine at an estate jeweler for about $200 or so.
