I was just wondering who usually pays for the bridal shower? I have not been in a wedding and this is the 1st wedding in my family in about 20 years...I thought it was the bridal party and the mothers contribute a little but I was told today by someone that the mother of the bride pays for all the food (whether it is at a house or resturant) and the bridal party pay for the decorations and games and the mother of the groom pays for the favors....HELP...HELP....HELP

Usually the mother pays for most of it. But bridesmaids will throw in and pay for the little things- like you said. I've been in 4 weddings and thats what we did everytime. I've heard of some people doing an even split though among all the girls and the mother.

I think it depends...
WHen my sis got married, most of the bridesmaids were just out of college and were working at places like Starbucks so my mom paid for everything. Other times, as a bridesmaid the mom and all bridesmaids split it.

I think it depends. I was just a maid of honor at a wedding and the bridesmaids paid for everything. I know another friend the mother payed for most of it. Being the bridal party they should be the one who plans it and if the MOB offers money that is one thing but, considering alot of the time the parents of the bride are paying for the wedding you cannot expect the mother to pay. I think it is case sensitive.

Everyone does it somewhat differently depending on the size of the guestlist and the finances involved. In my family, the bride's mom plans and pays for the whole thing, but I've heard of variations of this within my family.
