FYI: no bridal party so mom is throwing party. Went with my mom to Michaels to get some table settings. I saw the Shower Bingo cards, and showed them to my mom, she mentions that FMIL said we won't have time for games. HUH? I am about to turn Bridezilla. I always found at least one game a bit of fun. What the hell are all my guests doing to do when I open gifts?
Has anyone who had their's already pass on games? If so did it go smooth? I don't want my guests to be bored. There will also be 47 invited. Doubt all of them are going to show.

Games are fun and their are definitely time for games. Instead of BINGO at my shower we did something else. Someone set a timer and every time the timer went off whoever's gift I was opening got a prize. It was a lot easier then 10 women screaming bingo at the same time and still a lot of fun.

Re: Wedding Shower vent
when i did my sisters shower back in '09 i also did the timer game and we did all sorts of games, bridal bingo was one of them. in fact, i made a whole booklet of games and it kept everyone occupied when they weren't eating and just made for fun general conversation throughout the shower.
i have also played games at every shower i have ever been to.

Re: Wedding Shower vent
They didn't do games at my shower but honestly, since it was at my mom's house, it may have been chaotic doing games with all those people in the house. I know what you mean though - the gift opening process is soooo long. I kept apologizing to people and try to go as quickly as I could LOL.
I do like shower games though. It's definitely something to keep the guests entertained while there are there and while the gifts are being opened. I think if anything do the Bridal Bingo so the guests have something to do while you are opening the gifts. My fav. game though is the Toilet Paper dress! That's always fun!

Explain to your mother that you want games! It's not a shower without games. That's what I told mine. I don't know where mine is but I nearly panicked when she told me the one place she was looking at was only for 3hrs! I said it wouldn't be enough time for people to be late (as people always are), eat, open gifts, play games, and have a cake. There was a lot of venting in my house about my shower. I only asked for what day it will be but somehow I get my mom calling me to vent (apparently she planned my sweet 16 and a grad party but this seems to stress her out), FH's family was calling and asking where it is and what time so they can make their plans a month ahead, and I had to tell them I don't know, my mom is doing this, you will know when you get an invite. My mom insisted I give my invite list and the registry cards to one BM, who said no, I don't think I'm doing them, and then I went back to my mom who said no, your MOH said that BM is doing them, so I finally gave them to her, and a week later my mom is calling ME and asking if I heard from her because she's not answering her calls. And FBIL is calling FH because FSIL was given the task of bridal shower games and she didn't know any, while she had games at her shower (does she not remember being decorated in TP?) and doesn't everyone know if they don't know something google it? Sorry I vented on your vent. Just kinda came out. Don't people know we have a bigger event to plan too? I try not to call my family and stress about the wedding to them. FH keeps saying he should have just planned it. LOL.

Why is FMIL involved in the timeline anyway? If you want games, you should get games!

Re: Wedding Shower vent
We set a card that we printed with 'How well do you know Ali' questions out on the plates as part of the table setting. We put pens on the tables, so people could sit and chat and write answers.
Then my sister revealed the correct answers while everyone was finishing up their brunch, and the person with the most correct answers won.
That was the only 'game' we played

Re: Wedding Shower vent
I through my little sister her shower almost 2 years ago and I didn't think she would want games and I have to say... it got a little boring. Not to much WHILE she was opening gifts, but when she was one, we had like almost 2 hours left.
Our immediate is spread from NY, VA and FL so it was nice to catch up with everyone and just hang out, but I regret not having some kind of entertainment.

My shower is 4/2 but I've already told everyone WAY in advance there will be NO GAMES!!! I DESPISE playing games when I'm at a shower. No one pays attention to the gift opening, regardless of a game going on or not! I want my guests to socialize, eat, and enjoy themselves!
