Wedding Song Drama

I feel dumb even writing that as my thread topic but me and my FH are having a 'thing' over our song. our 'song' that always reminds us of one another is 'nightswimming' by REM, but we decided we did not want that as our wedding dance song, it's not fitting and by not having it, we just kind of keep it as our inside joke/memory.

my FH really, really wants 'in my life' by the beatles. he played it for me when we first fell in love as a sweet sentiment to be like, i love you, you're the one i have been looking for. i love this song and know it'll be memorable and 'ours' forever. but it's not what i pictured we would dance to. we'll have to dance kind of fast, i think? i don't want that.

i don't know what i want, i want us to pick something new for our day.

but he is really adament about it. i feel like i should cave, the song, and the dance is so special, and if he really feels strongly about it shouldn't i make him happy? especially since i have not settled on any one song yet?

he certainly caved for our honeymoon and gave me the dream vacation i've wanted for the last decade.

thoughts???

this issue is why i became a member here and a former lurker, none of my girl friends are married and none of them care to hear about this stuff anymore!!!

This is what I wanted something new and fresh.. and he wanted something classic that everyone would know.. So we compromised,, our song is a classic song but a remake of it where it still sounds new..

Also we are doin a spotlight dance and we are doin that to a newer song not everyone would know.. so maybe you can do 2 dances

my FH is dancing to In My Life with his mom. I don't think it's too fast, but if you are having a band, they can always adjust the tempo for you. If that's your only concern about the song, you should talk to them. However, if you really don't like it for other reasons, I'd be truthful to FH and try to think about some other options.

try dancing with him to the song and see how it fits! you never know .

or maybe you can find a cover of the song which is slower?

honestly, i need to recommend the song we used. its such a perfect (and still relatively unknown/new) wedding song.

eta: here is the song 'in action'...its starts off slower, but then it has a little bit (not crazy) more upbeat tempo. maybe its a good compromise?
