Okay, so here's my question: I know the song I must have for my wedding song (Absolute Beginners by David Bowie) but it's not really danceable. Has anyone here ever had a song rearranged? I would love it if it could be slower and I'm wondering if the only thing I can really do is to get a band instead of a DJ and have them preform it the want I want.
Does anyone have any better ideas?

I'm not familiar with the song, but your DJ may be able to do it. DH and I spoke with Music by Michael, and he had the equipment to speed or slow down music without changing its pitch. (So if a song is sped up, the singing didn't sound like The Chipmunks.)
Is the beat even? If the meter/time signature changes a lot, it may not be danceable regardless of speed.

Thanks for the suggestion! Didn't even think of that.
But no, the beat is pretty even. I can kinda conceptualize what it would sound like slowed down and it would be fine.

You can have your DJ rearrange your song. I had my DJ rearrange my first dance song.

I'm dealing with this myself right now. We want to use Forever by Kiss but I really don't know how we would dance to that song.
I spoke with my dj and he said he can slow it down a bit but I would want to hear it before we decide this is 'it'.
We are also taking dance lessons and our instructor told us she can slow down the music also.
I don't know, we'll see. My suggestion is to have a back up plan just in case it doesn't work out.

A lot of DJ's will make a special version of the song for you. It depends on the company you go with. You could probably also look around for some sort of company that edits music or whatever. I hope that sentence made sense haha

Isn't it?! I absolutely love the lyrics...there's a live verision out there (from the albulm 'Bowie at the Beeb') which is closer to what we're hoping for, if you're curious.

Did you poke around online to see if any remixes exist? If not, it's possible your DJ can rearrange it for you.

I just looked around online…nothing that I can find. The closest is the live version I mentioned before. Good idea though, thanks!

you can try and buy a cheap mixer program at a local electronics store. And that way you can try and diy! They come with instructions and its fairly easy. I've done it myself to mix dance music i use for my dance classes.
