WEDDING SONG POLL

WEDDING SONG POLL

THe song 'Don't know why' by Norah Jones is a special song to my fiance and I. However, when I read the lyrics, I wasn't sure if we could use it for our wedding song. Do lyrics really matter? Here are the lyrics. Please vote!!!

I waited 'til I saw the sun
I don't know why I didn't come
I left you by the house of fun
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come

When I saw the break of day
I wished that I could fly away
Instead of kneeling in the sand
Catching teardrops in my hand

My heart is drenched in wine
But you'll be on my mind
Forever

Out across the endless sea
I would die in ecstacy
But I'll be a bag of bones
Driving down the road alone

My heart is drenched in wine
But you'll be on my mind
Forever

Something has to make you run
I don't know why I didn't come
I feel as empty as a drum
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come

Re: wedding song help

I don't see why not. If it is special to you and your FI you can do whatever you want.
Or you can make it a second dance song...and pick something for a first dance.

Re: WEDDING SONG POLL

I voted no, but of course you can do whatever you want. It just seems like such a sad song to me.

especaily the ' i feel as empty as a drum' part.

If you care how your guests perceive it, they most likely will not know why its important to you & if they know it from the radio, probabaly see it as a sad song.

of course, its your wedding, and you coudl dnce to the brady bunch theme song if you wanted to!

Re: WEDDING SONG POLL

It is a beautiful song, but in my opinion, it isn't really a first dance song. It is pretty sad song. Do you and your FH like Norah Jones in general, or is the sentiment specific to that song? 'Come Away with Me' is a beautiful song that may be better for a wedding - we are planning on using it for our first dance. I think that lyrics are important, but that's JMO. Good luck deciding.

I voted no...because i didn't like the song (specifically the words in the song) but i was thinking about it and if it is special to you and your fiance...well then maybe i would use it.

I think we might use Come Away with Me also.

Nora Jones has such a rich voice, it's such a beautiful song.

I LOVE that song but I voted no because of the lyrics. It just doesn't seem fitting for a wedding song. JMO.

Re: WEDDING SONG POLL

I voted yes, because its your wedding!

Its definately not a wedding song but if its special to you, and its your day that should be special, than you should. Who cares what others will think.!.

It's up to you and your fiance what song you choose for your first dance. I think that lyrics do matter when it comes to choosing that first dance song. But if it has meaning to the both of you, then go with it.

I will be honest, if you love it, use it, but I dont feel the lyrics are great for a weddding song, perhaps something a bit happier by Norah Jones?

I wouldn't use the song, but I do agree with the others, that if it is special to you are your fiancee than you should go for it.

Why not 'The nearness of you' by Norah Jones? That is beautiful as well!

Re: WEDDING SONG POLL

I voted yes. IMO, The first dance song isn't just about the lyrics, but rather what the song means to both you and your husband.

The first dance song isn't really for the guest to enjoy; that's not what it's really about. When you are dancing your first dance, you both will take that time, while dancing, to reflect on what bought you to that very moment... dancing at YOUR wedding; while listening to that song, and if it puts a smile on your face and it warms your heart, then I say that's you guy's song, and you should dance your heart away, on your wedding day.

Good luck!
