wedding songs: classic vs. unique

wedding songs: classic vs. unique

my fh the musician and i are having some trouble agreeing on a song for the first dance. at the heart of the argument for now is the cliche-factor on the song i love, all you need is love. nothing else i've heard has been 'right,' for lack of a better word. fh doesn't want something overdone.

anyone have any feelings on this?

You and your FH have plenty of time! My FH and I are getting married in 25 days and we just chose ours yesterday! LOL....just enjoy it, by the way we ended up choosing sade By Your Side

I don't think it matters if it's classic or if it's unique. It should be a song that you both love and is meaningful to the two of you.

We are going less traditional and just focusing on us.... the words to Lover Lay Down are so us by Dave Matthews Band so we are going with that...but we are doing very nontraditional music...I found instrumentals to nine inch nails that I will be walking down the aisle to and our BP will be walking in to Panteras Walk...so we are very non traditional!!!

We are dancing to 'I Found Someone' by Barry White....it's not a classic, but it is so us...and on our first date that is all we played was Barry White.....The others songs that will be played during cocktail hour and ceremony, etc will be classic songs...

We picked something very non-traditional but it has a lot of meaning to us. the band will probably have to learn it for our wedding ..

Wait, your song is going to be All You Need is Love? Trust me, that is NOT overdone. It's a fantastic idea, and if it's the song you love, you should go with it.
