Wedding Stress

Wedding Stress

I know we're the brides but doesn't it get a bit annoying sometimes feeling like you're doing everything by yourself?! My family and FH have been helpful but at the end of the day, I'm the one doing the research, making the appointments and just generally thinking of everything. They just come along for the appointments and add their two cents when it's convenient. On top of this I'm a lawyer in NYC getting a ton of stress from my own job and day to day stuff. Blah. I'm cranky right now. Sorry for complaining

Maybe you could get your MOH to help you if you are a bit overwhelmed. Helping you is in her job description!

Thanks. Actually, my MOH is my sister and she's been totally out of commission the past two months first studying for the bar exam and now traveling in Europe for an entire month as her post-bar trip. Then when she gets back she starts her new (first) job so she'll be pretty busy herself.

In reality we have a lot done and we still have plenty of time before the wedding but there are just those moments where it starts to get overwhelming, you know? I'll be fine!

I completely understand what you are going through...I guess at first it could be fun- planning the wedding. But it sometimes gets to the point where you get so overwhelemed you feel like you are doing everything yourself. I will tell you what everyone tells me..breathe. Good luck.

I know the feeling... At times it seems like too much for one person to do, especially working a full time job. We live in Manhattan and are planning a wedding in Long Island so that is frustrating as well! We will both be fine!!!

ugh, tell me about it. Now, I am going to all my final meeting with the venders and FH doesn't want to go. I have been so stressed out about it that everything that happens not even having to do with the wedding I start crying!

Ditto for me date twin! I haven't even made a lot of the appointments I need to and I know FH won't want to go but I may drag him.
And I'm crying over the smallest things too!
It doesn't help that my monster-in-law has stressed me out beyond belief either.
And my MOH is my sister and she is super busy as well.
I do feel like it's all on my shoulders but my FH has been good with helping me.

i feel the exact same way and I only just started! I feel completly clueless. I have no idea what I am doing. I go back to work in a week and then i am going to be so busy. i have no help as well. My FH did not want a wedding. he wanted to go away to get married away but my fam would not have it. Needless to say he wants no part of this. My own fam is clueless! I keep asking...what do you think of this...and getting no answer. On top of everything else I am on a very low budget...I guess Im cranky myself LOL

I am in the same profession and it is hard. Between insane hours and trying to have a personal life the wedding honestly takes a back seat. I got sick about 8 weeks ago (a long term illness) and dealing with that has definetely helped me stress about the wedding a lot less - you have to realize it is one day and the details are nice but many are unnecessary. I know it is hard. Do what you can on your budget and schedule. For me, I decided I rather pay a little more money and save myself time and stress. I know it is not an option for everyone but there has to be a trick that works for you. Also, I got a lot less picky and stopped wanting to customize everyting - that I think will save me time and stress!

Re: Wedding Stress

i feel your pain - I'm going insane with my wedding in 10 days!!! i work for a biotech company and travel a lot - my apt needs some serious cleaning and i still have to pack for honeymoon etc!! I've been working 12 hour days and add in 8 hours for wedding - on top of watching the olympics! so been sleeping very late

i got a DOC but I wish i got a planner for the wedding - but overall it's not that bad really, i'm having fun, i wish i could put off work though

i've been delegating as many simple tasks to FH as possible. are their things you can trust him to handle on his own?

Re: Wedding Stress

I can't complain b/c I'm a complete control freak and I want to do everything. I don't trust anyone to handle anything for me (except my mom b/c I'm just like her :) But, now that I'm less then 2 months away, the stress from what's left to do is approaching and I still insist on doing everything myself so I'm no help! Sorry

Hang in there!

I totally get that...

My MOH is a new mom and is super busy. She lives upstate and we barely have time to talk. I am pretty much doing everything myself too.

Another lawyer here, and I do family law and criminal defense, so no 'lull in the action' -- just opened my own firm and working on a capital murder defense in federal court, multi-defendant, RICO case. So, even though we 'have time' I completely feel your pain. I just looked at the 'to do' list, and while I was so proud three months ago that I got so much done before the pressure was on, what is left to do is starting to stress me out because there is just not time now like there was a few months back. I almost forgot, for instance, about pre-cana, which I tried to set up when things were easier and the priest who handled the program left my church . . . . I literally forgot all about it until this week! I feel like I'll forget something small like renewing my passport -- the big stuff is done, but the little stuff is starting to fall off my radar.
