Wedding Thank You Question

Wedding Thank You Question

I am writing the ty notes from my wedding (which has been a miserable experience) and have a question. Several members of our bridal party have not given us a gift...some have acknowledged that they still need to do it, and some haven't said anything...should I send them a thank you note now thanking them for being in the wedding or should I hold off?

This happened at our e-party. The person who did not give a gift I just wrote thank you for sharing in our special day. Nothing about a gift. We still have not received one from the BM but what can you do. You can't say anything. Can you tell I am still a little annoyed???

I am a little annoyed too...this is going to sound terrible and I am sure people will say things about this, but I also don't want people to feel like they are 'off the hook' if I send them a thank you for coming and then they think they don't have to get anything!

Hi sweetie!

I haven't done my BP thank you's, but I plan on. I did everyone (guests, including BP) that gave a gift and my second round will be done next week for those that attended and didn't give a gift. Anyway, while it may be annoying, they certainly don't 'have to get anything' - I mean, they shared your day, paid for their own stuff and were present to share in your joy. That, in my opinion, is enough. That warrants a thank you in my book.

How's newlywed life?

Hey girl!

Married life is good! Still crazy busy though! I thought it would calm down after the wedding, but then it was Christmas time and now I am working on these thank-yous! UGH!

How have you been?

I know...it will be busy for a bit, but I think once you're past the 4 month mark it dwindles...which was welcome in my house!

I've been good. DH and I are in the midst of planning a move, we decided to leave NY! Woo-hoo! And between looking for houses, housing (in case we want to rent for a bit), jobs anddealing with my crazy work load I have no time to think. So of course I spendmy days here wasting time!

I already know that my OOT BM's won't give me a gift. They've done this to my family in the past. Can't worry about the small things in life. I'd send a thank you saying 'thanks for being part of our special day' or something like that.

Re: Wedding Thank You Question

ouch that is hard. I would hold off on writing them thank you notes, but at the same time I would email or call & steer the conversation towards the wedding and say something like oh I am sending my thank you notes out and they are such a PIA. You could even ask them for advice on what to say for other gifts. Hopefully that will give them impetus to send you something, even a card to say how happy they are for you.
I will say being in a wedding party is expensive so it might be tough for them finacially.
