Wedding venue opinion: The Milleridge Cottage

Recently got engaged and this is my first post 'hello out there' :p I have been searching all over the internet for wedding venues and have had a chance to go visit a few. On my list are:

Coindre Hall (less than thrilled)
The riviera (I liked this)
Milleridge cottage house (really liked this)
The venetian yacht club (I liked this one as well)

I keep going back to the milleridge cottage house. They have a great sounding menu, the catering manager I spoke with was willing to work with me on price as well as minimum amount of people (I'm only looking to have 100-125 for august 2012) and they have amazing windows with views of the garden.

My concern? The grounds don't look like much right now, the venue is right off jericho turnpike so I'm afraid you may hear the traffic and despite thinking the menu sounds good, is it really good? If you've been to a wedding there or are having your wedding there, I'd like to hear your experiences!

thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Wedding venue opinion: The Milleridge Cottage

my brother got married there (back in 2001) but it was gorgeous and my father wanted me to get married there too, but I wanted something different but I definitely recommend it. The food was amazing (we still go to their restaurant multiple times a year because it's so good) and the reception area is so beautiful and it has the cute shoppes across the parking lot. You definitely do NOT hear any traffic.

Re: Wedding venue opinion: The Milleridge Cottage

Milleridge is beautiful!! I actually said that if we were doing a winter wedding I would have def. wanted to get married there (Love the way they decorate for the holidays!).

The food is sooo good there and it's just a beautiful hall. I also love the little village there and it could be great for taking really fun wedding pictures.

Re: Wedding venue opinion: The Milleridge Cottage

I'm getting married there in October, and was there for a wedding in January 2010.
The food is amazing, thats most of the reason why we booked there. Don't worry about hearing traffic, you will not hear anything. Hopefully you are too busy inside partying!
I say book it, I love that place. They really do give you a lot for your money.

I spoke to Debbie as well! My mother originally set up the appointment and was taken aback by her seemingly negative attitude over the phone, but she was really nice in person. So glad to hear your wedding was amazing. Congrats to you!

Re: Wedding venue opinion: The Milleridge Cottage

I've been to two weddings there in the summer and the cocktail hour was outside and inside.. very pretty!!

one thing that worried me about them is that i've heard on three seperate occassions that they were closing because they were bankrupt and were having issues paying thier bills.. they are still open so i guess they are fixing things, but it worried me that they couldn't pay their bills in the past so i didn't check them out.

good luck!

Re: Wedding venue opinion: The Milleridge Cottage

I attended a wedding there a while back! It was BEAUTIFUL!! I did not hear or see any traffic at all.

The only thing I did not care for was the outdoor ceremony space. I don't know wether you plan to have your ceremony there.. but there is a giant blue water tower that served as the backdrop to the area the bride and groom were standing. I did not like that at all. Other than that I loved it there! Really pretty place

Re: Wedding venue opinion: The Milleridge Cottage

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! i got married there this past December and I dont have anything negative to say. The food was plentiful and really really good (<3 spinach crepe = to die for). everyone raved about the food and i have picky friends/family. Debbie is fabulous and its a great deal for your money. I can't comment about noise (as my cocktail was obviously inside) but its far enough off 106/107 that i doubt you would hear that. in addition to the grounds, you can take pictures in all the shops and the village which gives alot of variety.

please feel free you FM me if you have any specific questions... you wont regret your decision to book there.
