wedding video vent

We had a really amazing videographer at my wedding and he did things with us to make an edited video really great (had us kiss and wave goodbye a few times to make it perfect... things like that)

My parents are covering the photography and video but said they don't want to pay $700 for an edited video so they're getting me the raw footage. FH and I are really upset because we don't want 8hrs of raw footage and we know nobody will want to watch that. What's bothers us is my dad got this guy for a REALLY good deal and he saved a few thousand dollars.....

Whats everyones take on this, are the raw footage videos that bad?

Yes, an edited movie of your day would be great - you will instead receive everything...all of the funny shots, silly dances and if the videographer did any interviews w/ guests, you will receive all of it - You can upload the dvd to your computer and make your own edited video special effects and all !!!

I wish we could afford a videographer but instead we have asked some very close cousins to video the ceremony for us.

take the raw footage and maybe in 6 months or whenever you can, have them make you a 'condensed version'....

i'm sure it wouldn't be the first time that it's been done!
