I've considered it a few times, but I know my family would be very upset. I know it would make FMIL VERY angry, which is why the idea still crosses my mind. I can't stand her!

Re: wedding VS. eloping

I was married once b4-15 yr ago and had a really bad wedding day experience. This is my time for a do-over. It is a fresh start for me and hopefully better days ahead. I didn't want the big wedding though. Money is tight. My FH and I always talked about getting married, we have been together over 5 yrs. He says he knew I was the one. He was never married b4. It was him that wanted the big day. He kept putting it off cause of money. I told him that we will never really have the money anyway. So we set the date for this year and took on a second job. I would have eloped but I didn't want to take his dream away.

I actually wanted to do a destination wedding for very similar reasons. I had him convinced too, since both of our very large families are OOT anyway. But then when we went to a wedding in Aug 07. He said he wanted all of his friends there, and knew not many would make the trip to the Caribbean. 5 days later we booked the Riviera. Whenever he complains about $, I make sure I bring up how cheap a destination wedding would've been. But I swear, he's like the bride and I am the groom.

We were considering a destination wedding and got talked into a small wedding here. Which is not small at all. So FH and I say we should just head to an island. But the contracts has us staying put.

i never considered eloping. i just figured city hall with just the two of us would have been fine with me.

FH on the other hand wanted the big church wedding... i never pictured my wedding that way.

Everytime I bring up the wedding to Fh, he brings up eloping

I always wanted (and still want) the large traditional wedding, I just wish it was cheaper and less stressful, but then I suppose it wouldn't be as much fun in the end, right?

We thought about it and then I heard from family members that they would be upset ...we are now having approx. 130 people at the WSCC on 9/27/08. All of our family and friends are very excitied for us !! I am glad we decided to have the wedding.

I'm not going to lie, it has crossed my mind recently but we are pretty sure we want a big wedding, so we are willing to wait for it.

All we had booked was the hall so far (and we actually officially cancelled yesterday) so maybe I didn't fully get into wedding stress yet.

I was one of them... I didn't want to get all crazy about wedding planning and wanted to elope or do a really small low key destination wedding.

but now that most of the planning is done and we're getting really close to the date, I'm glad that we decided to do a big wedding. I'm really excited about the whole big deal now... plus so many people have expressed that they are so excited to be able to apart of our day. so that definitely closes the deal for me now.

I was also really excited about the BIG WEDDING but it has turned out to be really stressful and the only thing that keeps me going and happy is my quiet time with FH. I think we would have def. been better off going to a beautiful Island and having a truly meaningful wedding.....Can we do it over????
