Wedding with no planned budget?
So my FSIL and I are getting married 7 months apart she's getting married May 2016. Anytime we get together we spend hours talking about wedding planning. The other day out of curiosity I asked her what her budget was, she having over 200 guests and has very expensive ideas. She told me she has no planned budget just spending as she goes. My jaw dropped. We are both paying for our own weddings without help from anyone and I know they make a little more than me and my FH do. But as of now they have no savings whatsoever she said they're just going with the flow. Is this possible to do? My main concern was money I couldn't begin to plan anything without knowing how much we can actually save.

Wow. I mean, you can do that, but when you don't have numbers to aim for it can get real expensive realllyyyyy quickly!

Wedding with no planned budget?
I didn't really have one in the beginning. I cane up with it like half way through when I decided I had to have a cut off point. I'm sure they'll realize that too.

Wedding with no planned budget?
maybe it's possible because her wedding is so far away. Me & my fiance are also getting married May 2016 & have a budget plan of how much we save each paycheck, etc. By the time the wedding comes we'll have way more money saved than our budget. We'll have all the money we need to pay the wedding off by August 2015. The good thing with having a long engagement is that it isn't as hard on your pockets. But either way I would always recommend having a budget because there are so many little things and they do add up quickly

My budget created itself. Like my FH said just get the best deal you can on everything, and we'll work it out from there.

This is how it happened for me too. It's hard to set a budget when you don't know how much things are supposed to cost. So you have a lot of ideas, you start shopping around, and you figure out what's reasonable to you. And your budget starts to formulate itself.

Wedding with no planned budget?
Same here...We never really set a budget, just looking for the best prices and picked out the importatn things to us. It all just kind of worked out...

Yeah... I won't lie, we did not have a set budget in mind when we started planning. We really are just going off of the best price possible... we did splurge on the location but that was it. :/

Wedding with no planned budget?
We had a set number from the beginning that we felt comfortable with and we had a long engagement. We thought we would have all the money saved plus some by the time the wedding rolled around. Life happens and unforseen things can happen to derail your savings plans. Thankfully our parents are giving us our wedding gifts before the wedding or we have no clue where the rest of the money would come from. We only ended up going 10K over our set out budget but a lil over 5k of that is our honeymoon.

Wedding with no planned budget?
The big scary budget word! My fiancé and I don't have a set budget right now, just ideas of what we plan to spend on certain aspects of the wedding. Right now it's finding a venue that has the right feel and the right price. I know what we will be able to save during our two year engagement and it should be just enough to cover expenses. I don't think its too crazy to go in not having a set budget, but at some point you need to recognize what you can splurge on and what you can't.

We didn't really have one either - basically, I figure you can go into places and give them a budget, and yes the places will work with your budget, but then they will give you less. We just did our research and picked companies that we loved and that had middle prices and then figured we would save for it. I am happy that we did a lot far in advance for 2 reasons - more time to space out payments - and also realizing how much things cost to make me feel THRILLED to cut back the invitation budget with no regrets. Invitations by dawn are fine for us!

Wedding with no planned budget?
I can't imagine ever planning without at least a general budget in mind. If someone told me I could plan my wedding with no budget in mind, I would be out of control. Literally. We looked at multiple sites and saw how they broke down our original overall budget, adjusted it to LI style weddings, and went from there. Yes, our budget has grown since then by over 10K, but we were well aware and know how much money we have. We have our wedding budget saved now and what we save from now until the wedding will be for our home.

Wedding with no planned budget?
I must be a psycho bride! Lol after we went looking at venues I panicked and budgeted the entire thing. I alloted a budget for vendors, dress, tux, rings...etc. and I stuck to it. I was really nervous about this big wedding planning thing and didn't really have that many people to ask so I read a lot on wedding planning and every one of them said start with a budget so I did! Lol.
