Wedding/Reception Insurance??

Is anyone getting this? Our hall requires it so I have to get some quotes. Never heard of it before and wanted to see what you girls thought?

I have never heard of this either. . . . are you sure that it is just not a requirement by your hall that your vendors be insured?

It says in our contract that we have to get 1 million dollar liability insurance for the reception. I am going to fax this contract to our insurance company tomorrow and see what they say. I've never heard of it so it caught me off guard a bit.

My reception hall requires that all vendors have at least 1million dollars in liability insurance just in case the vendors cause damage to the property or an accident occurs on the premise involving them or your guest. If you choose a vendor who doesn't have insurance the reception hall would then require you to to sign a waiver, so if anything happens they would sue you .

There is also wedding insurance which protects the bride/ groom like home owners insurance. Just in case bridal shop/ reception hall, photgrapher etc. runs off with your money or natural disaster occurs . There is more to it.

I believe what your talking about applies to your VENDORS, not you personally. You would have to contact your vendors and ask them to send their insurance info to your hall.

i agree with the above posts i was told that all VENDORS must have liability insurance incase soemthing happens on their part but not us.

Re: Wedding/Reception Insurance??

This is what it says:

'The Lessee agrees to provide comprehensive public liability insurance issued by a company licensed to do business in the Commonwealth of Kentucky insuring both Lessee and Center, with policy limits of $1,000,000.00 combined single limit, including borad form comprehensive general liabailty and protect liability to insure against the claims or damags mentioned hereinabove, and to deliver to Center a certificate of insurance reflecting the coverage on or before April 12, 2007. The insurance hereby required to be meantained by the Lessee will be in full force and effective throughtout this lease.'

So I'm assuming it's for us??? Not the vendors?? Am I reading this right? Legal stuff is soooo confusing.......lol lol lol

Your VENDORS must carry Liability Insurance, not you!

Any reputable vendor knows the deal and either your hall has the certificate showing they carry this on file or they will bring it with them that day.

It's not the hall, it's for any vendor coming into the hall to do a service.

This is what I do for a living

Kristy,

Kentucky might have different laws regarding this. Here in NY, I'm pretty sure as the pp have said, just the vendors have to have insurance and provide your hall with proof. I would just call your hall and ask them. Let us know how it works out.

Re: Wedding/Reception Insurance??

i work in insurance. to me it looks like the hall is requiring ur vendors to list ur hall as an additional insured on their policy which typically have $1MM limits. It also looks like the hall wants u to list them as an additional insured on ur homeowner's/tenants liability policy. U will probably have to increase ur personal liablilty to $1MM since its not customary for people to have $1MM. It should only cost u ( to raise ur limit to $1MM) $100 max since u only need to do it for one day.
