****Wednesday 12/1/10 QOTD****

Our year is almost here ladies and as we look 2011 in the face and Christmas and all that stuff I thought of this question...

Are there any Holiday Traditions in your house or in FILs house that you just love and will pass on to your own children?

In my Mom's house we always has a HUGE xmas breakfast with every one then open gifts!!! I love it and everything is soooo yummy! At my FIL house my FMIL goes to midnight mass and it is soooo beautiful, even though I am not catholic I like to go just to see the service.

ever since my grandmother died, we have been creating our own traditions to make our family closer. We always get together xmas eve. no one misses it. ever. and we always play a joke on my uncle (last year I bought him $25 worth of canned octupus in marinara sauce from the dollar store and wrapped it with hot pink duct tape and congrats its a boy wrapping paper!)

we ALWAYS watch a christmas story on TV together, and we always play a board game after dinner. and the whole family gets involved. (and since we are 23 people on my moms side, its amazng!) then go to my best friends house, drink more wine, and sing karaoke

I WANT IT TO BE CHRISTMAS NOOOOOOWWWW)

Present opening Christmas morning at my parent's house....although my brother broke tradition a few years ago with the birth of his daughter (totally understandable).

I go to church with my parents Christmas morning also...

And FH and I make rainbow cookies!

And I'm not technically involved in this tradition but I'm gonna start this year for at least one day...my grandfather and my uncle (his son-in-law) bake cookies every night for two weeks before Christmas--a different one every night. My grandfather gets the biggest kick out of it and they both wear chef hats and aprons....it's the cutest thing ever

A few traditions of where we would go on Christmas day and who we would spend it with (which extended family) were unfortunately broken a few years ago when my great-aunt was sick and then passed away from cancer.

A Christmas story is ALWAYS on when we wake up... we open our presents while watching it and eating breakfast.

Another tradition that I HATE, is waking up at 4am to open presents. UGH.... my parents can't seem to wait, even though I'm the youngest and 25, it still happens!

Haha the 4AM wake-up used to happen in my household too! Us kids finally put a stop to it...I think my parents were ok with it, even though they wake up at like 6AM every day anyway

We are lucky because of the way our families spend the holidays we can follow all the traditions and not give any of it up:)
Xmas eve I spend with my dad's family - Santa comes and gives out all the gifts:) It's usually over by like 7 or 8.
After we head to my FH's house and spend time with them. They exchange gifts at midnight. They don't really celebrate the Santa part. They are from Colombia so it's about baby jesus. I hope they don't spoil santa for my kids.

Xmas - in the AM is going to be time for me and FH. Then we will head to my parents have a big breakfast, open gifts and then spend the day with my mom's family.

We go to church on Christmas eve
Have a very loud and noisy party at my cousin's house with 30+ drunken people later that night
The next morning we open presents (my parents, fiancee, and me)
Then we have a quiet dinner with my Aunt, Uncle, and cousin BM

We also put macadamia nuts in each other's stockings each year along with other gifts, but the macadamia nuts are a must have!

When my twin brother passed at two months old my parents decided to have a Christmas eve party after that so we have it every year now... This year will be the 23rd party!!! They are fun filled with family from both parents side.

And also at my parents we always have a big Christmas breakfast!

christmas eve- we spend some of the night with my side of the family (usually ends up being around 35-40 of us!!!), and then we go to FH's side of the family for gift giving, and cheese & chocolate fondue (FH's family is 100% swiss!!!)

christmas day- fh's aunt & boyfriend live with us, so we exchange gifts with them first thing in the morning bc they leave to go upstate. Then we go to my parent's and exchange some more gifts and my mom makes an amazing christmas breakfast. Then FH and I come home and cook dinner and we exchange gifts at night over wine

we discussed once we start a family that we are going to have my parents & brothers come over to our place for present opening and breakfast. We also want to start a tradition of opening the christmas pajamas present on christmas eve when we have children
