I want to plan a weekend away for DH and myself. I am kicking around Salem MA or Newport RI. Has anyone been to either of these places? Suggestions welcome.

I've been to Newport, RI and loved it! We stayed at the Francis Malbone House, which was very central and quite luxurious! I would definitely go back, especially as it rained the last time and we didn't get to do the sunset schooner trip. They have all the beautiful old wealthy Summer homes that you can tour too. I haven't been to Salem, MA, but I did like Mystic, CT.

I have been to Mystic - it was a lot of fun!
and you have to stop in at Mystic Pizza! Yummy!

I love Newport - they have tours of old mansions, and the town is great!

i third mystic - it is alot of fun - there are some really fabulous hotels and b&b's there too
