Weekends and getting up with the dog...

Weekends and getting up with the dog...

During the week we have a routine. I get up at 540, walk Casey and then shower get dressed and come back down to feed her around 630. Then I leave for work and she goes back in the crate around 715.

On the weekends, she is up at around 7 to go pee. I of course get up to walk her, but I have trouble going back to sleep or sometimes she will bark at around 8 or so to get out of the crate.

Any suggestions? I am so exhausted...I never get to sleep late anymore! Is this what having a baby is like??

I'm jealous. Satchmo is up around 6:00 am on the weekends. I haven't slept in since last November. We actually let him come in to the bed with us when he wakes up and that usually prolongs wake-up time for a half an hour, but we're almost always out of bed and awake with him before 7:00 am on the weekends. It *****, but I have found that I really get a lot done since I'm awake so early.

I have the exact same problem- -regiie whines at like 6:30 to pee so we walk him then at 7:30 he whimpers until we get up then he wants to get out- we never get late sleep on the weekends-
btw everythime we bring reggie in bed with us all he wants to do is jump around- he never lays down.

During the week we now have our dog to the point where she doesnt wake us until the alarm goes off at 6:40. DH says he hears her walking around the house around 5 though. And sometimes she unintentionally wakes us up b/c she is playing and makes alot of noise.

On weekends she gets up between 6 and 6:30 to eat. Then we go back to sleep but by 8 she wants to go outside. By 9 there is No getting back to sleep! One of us has to get up! We dont have to play with her but she wants one of us up by then.

Golem is the same way now.... but when he was younger we also had to keep our weekly schedule on the weekends, which meant getting up at 6.... Now, we get up around 8 on the weekends and usually, he's still sleeping in his crate when we open the door! And sometimes even when we have the door open, he's all loafy and just hangs in the crate all sleepy looking! He's becoming very lazy in the morning, just like his DADDY!!! Yesterday we were bad because we were out late on Sat night, so we slept in till 9!! Golem was okay though, I just heard him scuttling around in his crate and a tiny whimper - I think he was just reminding us he was in there bc when we opened the crate, he just sat there!

Your pup might just need to keep on that weekly routine a little while longer on the weekends.. Don't worry - soon she'll want to sleep later too!

Wow Marcie and Helena I am jealous!

Casey has to peeeeeeeee this is why she wakes us up.

There is NO way she can come in the bed with us.

1) There is not enough room in the bed as it is! My DH likes to sleep diagonal

2) We don't want to get her into the habit.

so does my bailey and coco haha. we are so lucky, Fh walks them in the morning at about 7:30, then when he gets home at 4:30 ish, and we take them out at about 10:30 ish before we go to bed. on the weekends, they will sleep in until we get up, sometimes until 11 or 12 (very RARE occasion we can sleep till that late). Both dogs have the full house to roam, coco sleeps in the living room on the couch and bailey sleeps with us in our bed lol. maybe the dogs get antsy being in the crate, i agree, taking them in the bed is the best thing to do hahaha
