*~Weekly Weigh In Wednesday~*

So to continue with the slew of things we are coming up with for crowd participation, I figured I'd add another one... Weekly Weigh In.

I see a lot of us who are in the process of dropping a few pounds for our big days and what better place to get some motivation than right here!

So let's make every wednesday Weekly 'Weigh In Wednesday' (i'm so corny). It will be a time for you to see how much you have lost/gained in the past week. It will also serve as a time to hash out any reason you may have gained weight or if you lost, suggest some things you did to help others out who are struggling.

I would suggest starting out in the following format and then talk about your past week (but if you don't feel comfortable saying your actual weight than don't have to). Also for the first time, mention it you are dieting on your own or if you are following a program (WW, JC, Nutrisystem, etc).

Current Weight:
Goal Weight:

My Week:

Remember we are not here to judge but to help everyone stay motivated in their weight loss!

Starting Weight: 162.0
Current Weight: 161.0
Goal Weight: 130

My Week: I am currently on Weight Watchers. I have tried WW in the past and I was able to drop a total of 35 pounds but was never able to reach my goal weight so I now I am determined to do so.

So my last week was ok... I honestly could have done better but we had that darn holiday weekend! I'm happy I was able to loss 1 pound.

My week: So far I have not had a good week AT ALL. I am not writing everything down because I am LAZY! And I will be the only one to blame when I get weighed in on Sunday Morning at WW.

I need to get me butt in gear!

My Week: Labor Day weekend messed me up big time, but in the grand scheme of things I'm not doing too bad. My studio dance lessons start this week, & I signed up for a Zumba fitness class, which will hopefully help motivate me!

**I agree Danielle- I never write everything down & it nips me in the butt! I'm also famous for not writing down something when I know it's something I shouldn't have eaten lol

Total agree with the not writing things down! I think to myself 'Oh those 5 chips couldn't possibly be all that bad' meanwhile it's 2 points that I have not calculated into my daily allowance.. damn that voice inside my head lol

Goal Weight: 145 (1 pound a week will make me happy)

My Week: Well it seems doing the elliptical EVERYDAY for 5 weeks makes you GAIN weight! Probably just me. uuugghhhhhh Going to the doctor today for bloodwork. I have Hyperthyroidism (Graves Disease) which usually makes you lose weight, but I was lucky enough to have radiation last year to destroy it and all it did was make it angry so now I'm packing on the pounds like crazy. I'm trying to combat the problem with exercise and eating better - no luck.
Doctors say I have to try harder until they get this thyroid under control.

Anyway, I was thinking of doing WW. I'm just not sure if it's as easy to follow as it seems. I already eat tons of grilled chicken and salads. Nothing full fat, etc. How does the points system work? HELPPPPPPP

Ok- I just want to add that I FINALLY don't feel alone anymore. All my friends in school were always a size zero and eat everything in the world and never Gained an ounce. My sister is the same way.

Not that I am glad to hear this- but I am not alone in a battle with my weight.

Trust me your not! I have had a problem with my weight since sophmore year of HS. Even though I played sports I just kept making bad food choices and the weight just started creeping on. The most I got up to was 182 in sophmore year of college and then I said enough is enough. I was able to get down to 147 at one point but then gained some of the weight back. Now it's time to reach 130. My hope is to get there by the time I get fitted for my dress which I plan to purchase in May 2010.

Oh you are so not alone. I feel that way a lot too. My sister and my mom are very thin. Always have been. I on the other hand, from puberty, have had a little 'extra' something. Always dieting. ALWAYS.

We're in it together!

It really isn't a hard program to follow. The best thing to do is plan out your meals the night before so you know exactly what you are going to eat the next day and you won't have to worry about figuring out the points before each meal. The best part about WW is you're not limited to just eating grilled chicken and salads. You can eat whatever you want as long as you stay in your points range. You even get a weekly allowance of 35 points to use throughout the week and it you are working out a lot I suggest making use of them (your body needs more fuel to boost your metabolism during your workouts - this may be why you are not losing the weight as quickly as you would like).

You also need to figure out which system works best for: Meetings, Online or on your own. For me, I learned that doing it on my own is the only thing that worked for best for me. I'd say try a couple of meetings, they'll explain the program better to you and then you can decide if it's the right choice.

Thanks for the info/advice on WW. I think I'd be better doing it on my own. Not sure if I'd be into the meeting thing. I feel like I'm always going and doing - the meeting will be just one more thing on my to do list. But I'm def. gonna look into getting on WW. I think I need a little extra help with this weight loss.

Thanks again :)

No problem. If you go to 1 meeting, you'll be able to get the info and then buy the books you will need to look up point values. I also highly recommend getting one of their Points Calculators. It's handy when doing food shopping.

Do you take a class at your gym or do you do pilates at home? If you have a recommendation for a good at home DVD for pilates I'd love to hear it!

Re: *~Weekly Weigh In Wednesday~*

I think this is a great idea!!! I definitely need weekly motivation. It's so hard to get off my butt and exercise since FH and I are in med school and eat greasy mex food (we are in mexico right now studyingn)

I'm only 5'3''---
Starting Weight: 143
Current Weight: 140
Goal Weight: 125

This week I actually got 'Moctezuma's revenge' which is a nice way of saying a GI/diarrheal infection...so I couldn't eat for like 3 days. But I really have to start exercising again. Last year I was down to 137lbs but went back up while i was studying for my boards. I looooveee SPINNING and DANCING...so I think i'm going to buy a month pass to this local Bike Gym that also has dance classes and try to go 3x a week. FH joined a BBall team so maybe him being out at night running around will motivate me.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

Re: *~Weekly Weigh In Wednesday~*

I would love to do this! It always helps to know other people are going through the same things you are. Plus we all kinda have the same goal- to look amazing at our weddings!

I lost about 80 pounds in high school and kept it off all through college- unfortunately once I started dating my FH we constantly were going out to eat and making delicious high calorie meals -all chased with wine of course So I managed to gain about 50 back

But now I am going to lose all 50 plus an additional 30 so I look the best I possibly can! I have started eating really well and cooking us both really healthy meals! I also started going to the gym everyday and walking after dinner. I have lost 10 lbs in the past 2 weeks!

Weight lost this week: 4lbs

I know I'm a day late but I decided I'd join you ladies..

Starting Weight: 216.... not last week
Current Weight:206... weigh in at this weeks doc appt
Goal Weight: 160-165
Mood: pretty stressed
My Week:

I just returned to work and have been having some health issues lately so the stress has made me lose more weight than usual. I have been working out and trying to watch what I eat, but it's hard since I still live with mama.

I really could do with a few weeks with some results like this to rally boost my morale. I'm glad I can find support from you girls on this site.

I am currently doing the combo acai berry/colon cleanse. I have been on this since 8/31, I will be finished on 9/13. After I am done with this I am planning on joining weight watchers. (FH sister is currently on WW and she has lost 40lbs and counting)

I really need to lose some weight before November, I have a wedding I am going to and I would really like to fit into one of my favorite dresses again.

Does anyone else find that they used to be there goal weight before they met FH?? And now we are the ones suffering to get the weight off.
