I'm going wedding gown shopping at the end of this month, I'm on a diet and losing weight. Do you think this will affect the dress once I choose one??

shouldn't really. Unless you plan on LOSING ALOT, otherwise they will alter the dress for you and take it in. I went dress shopping when i had put on a few pounds. WHen the dress came in a year later i lost most of the weight and it was just taken in. BUt then for final fitting i had lost even more weight bc of all the craziness going on so they took it in again right before my wedding. Thats why they do fittings close to your wedding date bc your weight can change closer to the wedding.

Depends..I went on a diet, and was loosing weight when I went dress shopping. I had to re-order my dress because I lost so much. Once I got the dress it was too big and alterations would mess up the dress.
You need to figure out which dress you like, how much you want to loose (realistically) and what is the latest you can order the dress. It took me 6 months to loose 22 lbs. I had only lost 8 when I bought my dress, the re-order I time I had lost 15, by the time I got the dress it had to be taken in a little.
Some dresses have shapes that will get messed up with too much alterations.

I am normally fairly thin. I have gained a few extra pounds in the last year. My dress is a size 12. it is only tight in the bodice. So even If dont lose weight its OK
But if I do lose the weight it will only make the gown that much more flattering.

So the moral of my story was if weight is not a huge concern try picking something the way I did.

I was thinking the same as you, when I was buying the dress they discouraged buying it smaller.
I lost about 20 pounlds 3 months before the wedding (mostly due to stomach flu), but then gained it all back, so I'm very happy I didn't order it smaller, it fit almost perfect and needed very litte alterations.
