Hi girls....so I need to lose some weight before the wedding. FH says I don't need to (love him), but I really want to. So, I have over the past month lost 14 pounds. Now, I am stuck. I haven't lost anything else. It's really frustrating when you know you have been SO good...no cheating here and there, and then you get on the scale, and the number has not moved...not even an ounce. I know I have to exercise more, but with a full time job and a very busy 5 year old, plus planning the wedding, HM and taking care of 3 dogs, fitting time in is just not that easy...any advice????

Re: Weight Loss Help
Unfortunately, there is only so much you can loose by controllling your diet alone. You will need to add exercise in order to reach your goal.
Here are some tips (I have read SHAPE magazine for like 8 yeras lol).
- Try to do some weights (i.e. shoulder raises, lunges, etc) while watching tv. You can also just do these things during the commercials. In an hour of tv, you could fit in 20 mins of exercises
- Try to be more active during the day - take the stairs instead of elevator, get off your train 1 stop early, take the furthest parking spot at work/mall, etc.
-Buy some light ankle weights and strap them to your ankles when doing any walking (i.e. wear them under pants while you grocery shop). This will just help burn a few more calories.
- You can break up a 30 min exercise session in 2 mini 15 min sessions (i.e. 1 in am, 1 in pm) and still get the same benefits.
I say this as if I do all these things. I want to loose about 10 pounds also - but it is soooo hard to take your own advice. I am just lazy!
I hope this helps though!!!

Re: Weight Loss Help
Hve you thought of joining weight watchers? I tried and tried and have not been successful till I was on the prorgamr - 2 months I've lost 16 pounds. I never would have joined had it not been for the boards, so many girls were on it and lost that I felt inspired.... It doesn't take too much time just 1 weekly meeting a week!!!!

Re: Weight Loss Help
hey i've hit many plateaus during my whole entire weight loss..I lost all the weight i wanted to, so i hope I can help..
1. Workout 5 times a week...alternating cardio and strength ( i do 45 minutes of cardio, 30 of strength) ...muscle burns more fat quicker so strength workouts are JUST as important
2. NEVER SKIP MEALS...especially breakfast..i eat six well balanced meals each day..It helps spead up your metabolism
3. stay away from foods high in cholesterol, saturated fat and trans fat..also sugar and salt..they add empty calories, and salt makes you retain water which in turn makes you bloat
4. DRINK lots of water!!! it keeps you feeling full and flushes your body
5. I eat meals usually high in protein right after a workout (i love grilled chicken and tuna is also good..but try not to eat it too frequently because tuna has mercury in it)
6. I don't drink any soda...makes me bloat and too many empty calories
I hope that helps..please feel free to ask me anything else! GOOD LUCK!! and congrats on your weight loss!!!

Re: Weight Loss Help
14 lbs in a month- that's awesome!
Take vitamins. B complex helps flush fat out of your body. Water, of course. Pilates is great too.
I have been eating low carbs for the past 2 weeks and don't feel I lost anything, but I am not doing the vitamin and water and pilates things (I'm bad). I will start this week though.
FMIL just to le me a motto they use in WW. 'Its in the pipes' (something like that). Sometimes because of whatever your body is going through (stress, period, etc) you sorta plateau, but then it catches up with you and you lose it once your body regulates itself.
Hang in there- you are doing great!

I actually am doing low carb, it always works really well for me in the beginning, but then I hit this plateau and get very frustrated.

I have to tell you, and I *hate* admitting it, but working out really is what does it. Its the WORST 30 min of my day (I was always the fat girl in gym class) but it really is the only thing that helped me lose weight and helps me keep it off. YUCK.

Re: Weight Loss Help
After my first son was born I had a hard time losing the weight. Weight watchers just annoyed me lol. I tried Southbeach diet which makes you lose weight realllllllly fast and more the just losing pounds your stomach gets flat quick. It's a tough diet and you need to stick to it strictly to see the results quick. I am 7 months preg now and I know I have to bust my *** to lose this baby weight PLUS some of the weight I put on before the baby. I still am not sure exactly what diet I try but no matter what I know I am going to have to exercise like a mad woman. There is this diet called teh ABS diet. They have a new book out for woman now. It's a healthy way of eating but you lose weight also. It's all whole wheat breads and pastas. lots of fruits veggies and nuts. Plus you need to eat 3 meals plus 4 snacks. I think its a little easier then weight watcher b/c counting points gets annoying to me after awhile PLUS on weight watchers you are counting calories but not necessarily eating healthy. It all depends what you think would be easier for you to stick with. Good Luck :)

Re: Weight Loss Help
i do low carb and i plateaued for awhile...i force myself to drink 8-10 glasses of water and force myself to bike every morning or walk or swim. i just noticed my plateau ended! So far I lost over 40 pounds since January!
First, make sure it is really a plateau...many women experience metabolic resistance...get a measuring tape and take measurements once a week...what i thought was a plateau wasn't really one because I lost inches...you lose from different places too. Also, hoodia supplements and green tea help.
Second, watch coffee consumption...i found out that a cup of coffee has almost 1 carb, as does a packet of splenda! The hidden carbs are killer!
Good luck!

Re: Weight Loss Help
My trainer said I need more cardio. Maybe that might help. Take the pups out for a brisk walk/jog. You can do it!
