weight loss = stress

weight loss = stress

I've been planning on shedding a few pounds and I did which was great and I'm so happy about it but this week I started to lose my appetite. I don't know why but I realized that I would wake up and not feel hungry at all for breakfast and then eat a small lunch and a small dinner. I usually snack on something healthy in between but like I said I'm just not hungry.

I'm beginning to think it's stress related which worries me because I have 3 and a half months to go. I really don't want to lose much more, this week alone I'm down 2 lbs which is a lot for me considering i'm 5'2' and a small frame.

What can I do to open my appetite a bit? Any suggestions? I don't want to go the fast food route cause that's just gross and I've been eating so good.

Have you been working out at all? This can help relieve stress and you should get your appetite back in order to have enough fuel to get thru the day and your workouts...

That's a good idea, I didn't think that working out would help. I'm going to try it and see what happens...thanks

If you're losing weight purely from not eating, you are losing water weight. As sonn as you eat normally again, the weight will come right back.

stress= weight gain

awww not for me, I usually lose when I'm stressed. I think I need to take some time away from planning and just relax.

sometimes when I get sick, like with a bad cold or a fever, I lose weight. When I need to put the few pounds back on again I eat a lot of ice cream

Eating only two meals a day is why you are not hungry...you have to (even if you arent hungry) eat more than 2 meals a day. Ideally you should be eating 5 times a day to keep that metabolism up. Eventually, the eating so little will catch up with you and will cause you to gain. Try eating little meals throughout the day. What do you like to eat for breakfast? Maybe a granola bar or yogurt if you arent hungry just to get you going?

I wake up RAVENOUS! I can't wait to eat n the mornign...its terrible!!

Good luck hun

Thanks for the advice, I usually don't eat just 2 meals a day, I'm usually fighting off the food bc I always want to chew on something lol.

And I know what you mean about waking up like that, I'm usually starving in the morning and can't wait to eat

ehh it happens to some people - i lose weight when i am stressed and have no appetite....to nervous to eat.....i was emaciated for my wedding but i think i looked good hahaha - i gained a few lbs now that its 3 months later and i want to be back to my wedding figure! i gained like 5-8 lbs but on a small frame like mine (im barely 5 feet) that is a lot!

I'm having the same problem...between wedding and family stress I've been loosing weight. Normally when I'm stressed I eat alot...for some reason thats not the case. I'm also 5'2 and down 4+ lbs, people have noticed so I'm trying to be more concious of what I eat to make sure I don't loose too much more (i never thought I would have to do this). Usually I have to watch what I eat or I can gain weight fast.

Maggie - this happened to me about 5 years ago when I was studying for the bar exam. I lost abt 10 pounds out of nowehere and ended up being 135 pounds at 5'11'' - I was not a pretty sight. I looks way too thin at that weight.

Now that I gained 5 pounts in a month I sure wish I could turn that back on - lol.

I had the same problem - no appetite - I tried to force myself to eat a normal breakfast and I generally found that that helped my appetite for the rest of the day. Maybe that will help you too.
