Weight question

Weight question

Did anyone else keep an eye on their weight in between the Dr visits? I have been and for the most part noticed that I change a couple pounds up or down day-to-day. Now why when I go for the Dr's test does Murphy's Law come in to play and the upper pounds show!? I even try to watch what I eat that day (because I have to have my appts late in the day) and still show more weight than in the past couple of days. Thankfully my Dr hasn't said too much, but even an extra 2 lbs one day is enough to throw you over the ol' 1lb/week.

I go to the Dr next week and then start my bimonthly visits...I can only imagine what will happen. I don't know why I worry about it, because I am still exercising a couple of times a week?!

Re: Weight question

I don't weigh myself. I hate when I have to get weighed at the dr's office. I just keep thinking to myself 'How many more weeks to go and I wonder how much more I will gain?'

Re: Weight question

Nancy I really watched what I was eating this pregnancy only because I remember that I was miserable that I had gained 35 pounds with my first.
It took me SO long to take off.. I swore I would watch more what I ate this time..
Im 41 weeks this week and gained 25 pounds..
I guess Its a lil better

Re: Weight question

Wow, that is great! I think that everyone is different and sometimes (like my hubby says) I let people get to me too much. The funny thing is people never say that I look like I gained a lot of weight...but I have learned not to tell them how much I have gained because people change quickly!

Sue, you really looked great last time we saw pictures! See, I think I can gain weight (within reason) but I just hate always thinking that I may get yelled at. My mom actually gained 40-50 lbs with most of her 7 kids and lost the weight with-in weeks after giving birth. My sisters did the same thing...so I must have some kind of genetics on my side!

I must get some pictures of myself in the next couple of days. My acne has cleared, but now I am sick again! Never fails...

Re: Weight question

I'll try to post some new pictures of me too soon. My dr told me that I can expect to gain about 35 lbs because he said I was slim to begin with. I also try not to tell people how much weight I've gained so far because I know everyone always has a comment. Although I have to say, so far everyone has said that I am carrying very well. I would just like to make sure it stays that way.

Whenever I see someone I haven't seen in a while and they say 'Wow, you got so big,' I get a little self conscience as to what they mean.

Listen, don't let what anybody tells you get to you -- I know it's easier said then done, but really!! I've found that people tend to talk out their **** and some people like to listen to themselves talk. What matters the most is that you have a healthy baby -- and as long as your dr isn't yelling at you, don't worry about it. I had gained weight before I got preggo and was not happy about that and was very nervous about what I would gain being pg and was very careful about what I ate, etc. In the beginning, I gained the usual 3 lbs, then one month I gained 6! It all evened out. At the end, I have no clue what I gained because once I was diagnosed with GD, I kept losing weight, so I think I gained somewhere between 15-20 lbs. I did lose it right away, but I still need to lose all the weight I had gained before I got preggo.

As I ramble on and on, there is a reason for my babbling...

before I got preggo I couldn't stand when anybody who was pregnant was constantly calling themselves 'fat' or whatever. To me that's not being fat, there's a life growing inside of you and I thought (and still do) that was the most awesome thing and you shouldn't care about the weight thing because you're not gaining weight because you're eating like a gavone, it's because of the baby. Anyway, when I got pregnant and was depressed about the weight I had gained before, I was constantly saying how fat I was, etc. until my BF mentioned what I just told you and then I stopped. And I never was one of those who felt that you had to eat the house because 'you're carrying for two'! Not that I could anyway because all the stuff I wanted, I wasn't allowed to have at the end!

Forgive me, I have a massive headache and am a space cadet and I'm rambling on and on and probably making no sense!

I love seeing pregnant women!! I think women are the most beautiful when they have a life growing inside of them -- big or small!!!

Re: Weight question

I gained 40 pounds and was realy upset about it. I lost 30 of it already - one week later! So there is no way to know how much of it is water, fat, etc. ?Don't sweat it. Everybody is different

Re: Weight question

Ive had the same pattern with both pregnancies. Gained really slow at the beginning and 'caught up' at the end

I peeked at my charts last week. I hadnt gained any weight till 14weeks (7lbs?), and then gradually 2 or 4 lbs here and there. Some visits none, some visits what seemed like too many
At 33weeks. Ive gained 25lbs. I gained 36 with my last pregnancy. So I figured with a pound a week, I should be in the same area.

I do plan to get myself into shape after the baby, and lose some weight 'for myself' (Like Debbie, I had wanted to lose before the baby and 'never got a chance to' so I plan to after this one.

Dont worry about it while youre preggo. Enjoy your growing belly and know that its all for the best cause EVER !!

Re: Weight question

I weigh myself every 2 days, just because I don't want to be shocked when I see the scale at the doctor's office and so that I CAN reel myself in when my eating is out of control.

That being said, even though I've already put on 19 lbs. at 22 weeks which is DEFINATELY on the high side (I'm only 5'3) I can honestly say that I LOVE how I'm carrying, all belly, so I'm not really bothered by the scale. Shocked? Yes. But bothered, no. You'd never guess how much I weigh from looking at me. Thank god.

Re: Weight question

I definitely don't look forward to the weigh in routine at the doctors. But what can you do?! As long as we are both healthy that's all that matters...

But when I'm able to head over to the gym and work this body into shape... I'm going to be there in a heart beat!!!

Re: Weight question

I'm right there with SusanS. I weigh myself every week and that is the weight I go by. I certainly do not go by the Dr.'s office scales for they are always off (not caliberated). I used to be a dietician so I know the secrets of scales I also book my appt.'s for later in the day making you always 2-4pounds heavier than in the morning, which is your true weight. If you feel good and your healthy along with your child, don't let it get to you. Their just numbers that can be shed.
