Weight Watcher PROS - Questions

Weight Watcher PROS - Questions

I plan to start WW this week.
Id like to go to a meeting or two, to get the materials, buy some other stuff and get a kickstart with knowing what my goal is, etc.

What are some words of advice?

Journaling-What is a good method to journal what you eat? Last time I did this I felt like I was writing a book at each meal, to count each item (tuna, mayo, bread) etc.
Do you have a list of your 'regular' things and their points?

Who decides your goal weight? You or the counselor? and if you reach it, youre a lifetime member?

Any other pointers?

Yeah...Its a good idea to go to a meeting or two. Alot of people need the meetings each week. I didnt. I went the first week and then I was on my own after that. I only went to ww for weigh in and to buy more 2 point bars.

I would suggest signing up for the WW web forum. You can find out alot of useful information on the site, and ask questions. There are alot of people on there that will help you out, even if it is a simple question about points in a certain food.

You will get the starter book free, and each week you get more useful stuff for WW, including recipes.

If you want, I would buy the Starter Kit. It comes with a book containing all the foods and their points, a book containing restaurants, and fast food places food points, a fold out pamphlet that is containing other foods and their points, and a black vinyl binder to hold it in. It is $19.99 at ww.

The 2 point bars are good at ww, but are expensive. For 2 points, you can have low fat granola bars. They are just as yummy and less expensive.

As for menus and counting points...I used to write down the points for something I ate, right after I ate it.

Hope this helps you.

Go to the first meeting to get starteed. After the meeting the counselor will explain things to you if you are a new member. They give you this white card that you go back with so they can weigh you and on their they write a target goal, I think they do it for you but i'm not really sure since I am new member myself.....I call the weight watchers 800 number when I am not sure of points. It's 1-800 651-6000. Buy the two food companion books they are helpful.

Whoa, you can CALL when you aren't sure of points?!

How cool!

I really recommend the meetings, they really have helped me out. I was reluctant to attend at first too, but MAN do I love it now!

Yeah I always call them with questions on points. I am starting to like the meetings as well. It's also another way to meet new people. I have met this one girl who lost 2 pounds after being on it a week and I lost 4.4 myself so we were cheering each other on. It's nice to have some support from the group.

And once you reach your weight loss target the counselor announces it and everyone claps....it's a nice feeling.

Just some tips -

go to a meeting once or two. They are helpful.

WW decides your weight loss amount. The last time I was going it was 10% of your weight. They go by the weight chart for your age group.

Def. journal!! It's very helpful to see what you've eaten all day. It's also helpful when you slow down with weight loss to try and figure out why. You'll pick up the point system and the books are really helpful as well. After a meeting I also joined online just to get access to recipes and their journal - it might be worth it for awhile.

Another tip is to pick your favorite meal of the day and start your points then. It's much easier to plan out that way I always picked dinner, spent about 4 points on breakfast and lunch was the remainder.

Drink your water!! The first 2 weeks at WW are usually the best because you see the most loss during that time.

Good luck!

Wow I certainly hope that that is true about the first two weeks because I am starting week 2 and I have already lost 4.4 but don't see it...
