I did WW about.. a year ago or so as well as several other diets since..LOL I gained weight but I know I was not dedicated.
I am considering going back ONE more time .. if I dont make it work, Im going for the lapband.
Anyhow...
Im looking line and trying to find more basic info on the program because I really dont remember much. For you that went on with success did you prefer the Core or flex and can you give me a basic on the difference?
Also... what was your point allocation. If I remember correctly mine was like 23?? Does that sound right?
If I do this again, I will most likely join a group too.
btw.. I have been working out like crazy, watching what I eat... and have not lost one pound. Very frustrated, and need help!!!!!!
Thank you for whatever info you are willing to share.

Re: Weight watchers help... (question)
I go to WW...and while I have not been successful b/c I am the WORST with sticking to the diet...I'm trying to figure out if I can somehow turn my monthly payments into a charitable donation so I can write it off on my taxes.
Anyway, I hate to admit it, but I did really good when i did core. Old habits die hard and I insist on doing flex, but I did well with core. I'm thinking of switching to core until my wedding.
I have 21 points a day, so I'm not sure your height/weight but 23 seems probably normal. Weight watchers online has really improved so check it out. I find the etools helpful, especially the recipes when I feel motivated to cook. Good luck!

Re: Weight watchers help... (question)
i am on ww now. i have 20 points to work with. I use flex because it is more flexible for me to eat out. susanadam (i think is the screen name) is an 07 bride that posted a couple of days ago losing around 40 pounds on weight watchers, using flex.

Re: Weight watchers help... (question)
Hi. I've been on Weight Watchers since November. At the time when I was fully committed I lost 22 lbs. I gained about 5 back but thats been in the last 3 months (hit a huge rut and stopped going to meetings) I was on Flex for most of the time, when I stopped losing for a while I switched to Core for a week just to kick start it again and it actually helped, so then I went back to flex to keep going. I started with 23 points and now I am down to 21, however they changed the program so you adjust points based on your lifestyle, age, etc. I don't know where you live, but Kings Highway has this really great leader, she works in the city too. Anyway if you have anymore questions, please don't hesitate to ask. (P.S. I lost all that weight without entering the gym, its once I started working out that I relaxed and started gaining back)

Re: Weight watchers help... (question)
Thanks for the replies ladies.... Im on the WW site now browsing..
On a scale of 1-10, how valuable or important do YOU feel the meetings were for you? Just not sure if I want to commit to them or just do it online
I bought a WW cookbook yesterday. 90% of the recipes are for Flex.. only a few for the Core .. the ones for the Core also include the number of points.. so I guess, if it doesnt say Core...its only flex, but Flex can be both? LOL Anyway... just giving this some thought as I am so frustrated. We eat out about 1-2 a week now......and I LOVE my cocktails.. I need to get a grip!!!

The points target is now a little more personalized. You fill out a questionaire based on weight, age, activity level, gender. I'm at 20. I agree with thelastresort that Core is great. It's really the proper way to eat--whole grains, non-processed. I just have a hard time sticking with it. They make core cookbooks--sell them at meeting places. you know a recipe is core if it has a little check mark. You can often make a flex recipe core by substituting something like ff cheese or ff milk.
I find the meetings are key, so I would say a 10. I can't do it w/o going to meetings. I need the accountability. I leave the meetings feeling totally motivated. HTH! Good luck!

Re: Weight watchers help... (question)
I looked for meetings in my area and think they are running their special. Its $119 for membership and 11 weeks I guess. Not sure how much it is after the fact. May be worth it to get on the right track
I am a stay at home mom that will have to cook for the whole family. My boyfriend needs to lose a lot of weight too... I think I really do know how to eat properly.. low fat, whole grains, etc but just need motivation and guidelines.
Quick question then.. I spent $25 bucks on the recipe book.. do you think its worth keeping and trying to tweak the recipes to be core? I think core may be what will work for me.......
oh..and do you get to use the e-tools for free if you are a memeber?

Re: Weight watchers help... (question)
I've had a lot of success on Weight Watchers. I tried doing it on my own by just cutting out what I thought was bad for me and lost several pounds, but got stuck. I started going to meetings in January and have now lost a total of 43. I sometimes skipped meetings some weeks, but going to them really kept me motivated and accountable. I go to the Lynbrook center and tried numerous meetings until I found an amazing leader who has been very helpful along the way. You really have to find the right meeting for you.
I also use the website and read the message boards there and the success stories. That helped keep me motivated too. When you are a member the website is free. There is a quiz on there to figure out how many points you can have. I believe I started out at 26 points and then dropped to 19 when I was close to my goal. Now that I am maintaining I can add 4 points a day.
I never tried core because I don't like to be restricted on what I can eat. On core you are allowed 35 points for the week to have foods that are not on the core program like pizza. There have been a lot of people in my meetings who have been very successful using core or even by switching between the two. I attached a great website where you can get core recipes.
Best of luck to you! Just know that it is doable. You might get stuck along the way or gain at times no matter how hard you work at it. It happened to me numerous times and I almost gave up. Don't, the weight will come off. Just take it one day at a time. If you want to ask me anything else or just to chat, FM me.

If you're going to do core and there's not many core recipes in the book, I would return it for a more core-friendly book. You can tweak, but since you're just starting off it's probably easier not to. I do the Monthly Pass. You pay by the month and can cancel at any time so it's not like you're paying for meetings down the line. With this one, it's $39 (I think) but you also get free subscription to online. So considering the prices of meetings and online, it's a good deal. If your meeting center offers that option--the monthy pass--I would do that instead of paying for 11 weeks.
