Weight Watchers (I'm a newbie)

Has anyone joined ww? Specifically ww online? I just joined and I know there is no way I can commit to meetings. I set the website up on my phone so I can enter in points etc. Any WW tips? Also, the website says that tyrpical weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week- did anyone lose more than that in the first three weeks? I hope so LOL

Re: Weight Watchers (I'm a newbie)

I went to meetings, never did the online thing.

Some tips:

- Pay attention to their 9 Healthy Guidelines (or whatever it's called)...I try to reach each of them almost every day. I've been a WW member (Lifetime, now) for a couple of years...make it a goal to reach one of two of those guidelines per week; next thing you know, it's become a habit.

- Drink water! It's the most natural way to hydrate your body.

- Keep food that are not point-friendly out of the house. If they're not there, you can't eat 'em.

- Try new recipes. Don't get stuck in a rut with the same foods...you'll grow bored of the program.

- Take advantage of the great produce that's in season now

Everyone's body is different; some people report that in the first couple of weeks they drop more than 2 pounds, some people don't. Some weeks, if you don't see a loss on the scale, take your measurements. You might've not lose pounds but you may have slimmed down a bit.

HTH!

My mom has done VERY well in the past with WW. However, I am not a fan of diets like that - though this is the best option out there. I have seen her yoyo so much over the years - gaining and loosing the same 50-75lbs time after time after time. I am taking (hopefully) a more long-term attempt at it. I try to get to the gym 3 times a week, and we do a lot of grilling - we love our foreman grill! I've lost about 7 lbs over the last month & a half.

I lost 90 lbs on ww and Ive kept it off for bout 2 years. It's sorta ingrained in my head now.

honestly the online thing is hard. you need to be accountable for your actions. The scale makes it that way.

and yes, you will have weeks where you lose more and some where you lose less.

I've been on WW now for two weeks. I have lost two pounds a week. My cousin lost 7 lbs in two weeks. I love it! My only advice is you need to go to meetings- online just didn't keep me motivated.

Best of luck! No matter what you'll look stunning on your wedding day!

I used to do WW a lot. I just bought the books, went to the first meeting, and then did the rest by myself (this was prior to online so IDK about online).
Buy yourself a pen and pad just for WW and use that to track everything :)
Now a days, they have the calculator for calculating and keeping track of points also.

I used to lose about 3 points within the first weeks and then a little less each week or maintain it.

I went on it like 3 seperate times :) I highly recommend ww good luck!

I have been on and off WW for a long time, and I have to say its the best. If you lose more than 1-2 pounds your first few weeks thats ok because your body is adjusting, and you will lose a lot of water weight. After that you should be aiming for about 1-2 each week, no more than that. If i lose .5-1 pound I know I'm exactly where I need to be.

I get the magazine every 2 months, it has tips and recipes, and I've kept every magazine for the past few years. One tip that i've heard is even though you're allowed to splurge on 'bad' things as long as you track them with your points.. one member won't let herself splurge until she's had her days requirement of fruits and veggies. That way you know you've been healthy, and you're more full and will most likely not overeat.

FM me if you have other questions, I've been doing this for awhile, and although I've been on and off when I actually pay attention to what I'm doing it actually works.

I started WW about 2 1/2 years ago and I'm a lifetime member. I lost 60lbs. You can def. lose more than 1-2lbs in the first week. I had a week where I lost like 4. But as you get closer to your goal weight you lose a little closer to 1lb/week.

Just make sure you track everything and you should be good!

In defense of WW...because I always defend it...it's NOT a diet. It's changing your ways in a healthy manner.
It's balanced.
It's all about portion control, eating more fruit and veggies, drinking water and other no-cal or low-cal drinks, and getting in activity a few times a week. It's also about NOT denying yourself the occasional treat.
If you don't follow their plan, then yes, you will most likely gain back some (or all) of the weight you worked hard to lose.
It's not a quick-fix. If it's treated as such, then a person will most likely fail at it. And if it's not applied regularly, then a person will most likely fail at it.
But a diet, it is not.

May I ask what exactly you mean by 'diets like that?' As a WW lifetime member AND leader, I can assure you that WW is only a 'diet' if you make it one. It's not one of those programs that makes you eat certain foods and cuts out others........instead, it teaches you HOW to eat the foods you love and still lose weight. However, like any weight loss regimen, if you stop doing it, you will put the weight back on. Just like if you stopped going to the gym and stopped grilling as much, you will put some weight back on.

I lost 46 pounds on WW almost 4 years ago and have kept it off. I also have been working for them for 3 years.

To the OP:

I really would try to make it to the meetings if you can. I know plenty of people that are successful with online only, but I know more that are successful going to meetings. It makes you more accountable.

My tips:

Eat ALL of your daily points every day.
Use your weekly points.
Drink your water
Replace snacks with fruits/veggies
When eating out, eat half your meal and take the other half home
Break out the crockpot and the grill - they can be a WW member's best friends.

TRACK TRACK TRACK! It's amazing how much less we eat when we write it down.

Finally, everyone loses at a different rate. Don't pay attention to that. Focus on the downward trend. There will be weeks you lose a pound, there will be weeks you lose 3 pounds. But there will also be weeks when you gain weight. Don't let it frustrate you. Just keep working the plan and you'll see results.

Thank you so much for the response. I think I am going to try to go to meetings too I just can't commit. Again, thank you!
