Weights exercising

How many days a week should I do weights? I am starting off slow then building gradually. I can't push the amount of weight I used too. I lost so much of my muscle.

Thanks Kim. I can only do weights for the entire body in one day. I don't have that much time to do half in half. Plus cardio.
So for now, I will do weights on Wednesday and Saturday. Once the winter hits, I will bump it to three days.

Wanda you really shouldn't work out more then 2 body parts per day..

Do like bi's Tri's and abs on day and a half hr of cardio!

That is 3 parts and since stomach is a sub part you did 3..

Only do stomach 3x a week and make sure u diet.
If you don't , don't waste your time on abs!

Re: Weights exercising

T so how many days in total should I do weights? I used to do this routine and I was okay. What ****$ is I only have 45 minutes to work out and stretch before I have to get ready for work. So I am extremely limited on time as far as what I can do.
Diet.... I cut out ALOT of the fatty crapola I have been chomping on. I am so disgusted with myself!! And the carbs. Those are my enemy!

Re: Weights exercising

It is recommended to weight train EACH MUSCLE 3 days per week, any more and studies show that the benefits are no better, plus you are not giving your body enought time to repair. You do want to rest 24 - 48 hours depending on the intensity of the trainng session. So if you train your arms monday, you don't have to do them again until wed, and then friday. You can do legs tues, thu, sat. Or you can do all your muscles mon/wed/fri. It depends on the amount of time you have to exercise and do yoru cardio too. (make sense?)

Re: Weights exercising

If you only have 2 days to lift weights, try to do multi-muscle exercises to save time.

For example, bench presses work not only the pecs but the triceps too. So do 3 sets of bench presses, then pick up a dumbbell and do 3 sets of french presses (for triceps).

Then you can do assisted pull-ups on one of those pull-up machines. Do the palms facing you pull-ups, which works the back and also biceps too. Then grab some dumbbells and do some biceps curls on an incline bench (the bench that's tilted back at an angle).

Then grab a pair of dumbbells again, and do squats. Start the squat with the dumbbells down at your side, but when you finish the squat, raise your arms over your head, so you're working your shoulders doing an overhead press.

Then you can do some abs....
