ok... so my best friend of 20 years and i are in a- not an argument- but a 'getting things off our chest' stage... she didn't stay the whole time at my shower and she is a bridesmaid, so i wrote to her just to tell her how it hurt me, just to get it off my chest so it didn't build up... well she wrote back and said something like ' well i was very disappointed that the shower was on a sunday- things like should not be on sundays- sundays should be for church and God- not parties' uh... ok.... just thought this was a little weird... does anyone else no anybody who feels this way??

Re: weird....
Very Weird! Especially being she's a best friend for 20 years...AND a bridesmaid. It's amazing how something like a joyous occasion like a wedding can make peoples true colors come out. I hope this has a way of working out for you. Good luck!

Re: weird....
I'm not saying you should have kept it all in and ignored how you felt..BUT..I have learned from past experience that sometimes its best to just drop something because then things get said on both parts that hurt..and before you know it, its turned into a pointless fight and sometimes you can't take back your words.
Did she have a good excuse for missing most of the shower? Was she apologetic at least? I think her comment was odd...many showers are on sundays and its not like you planned your shower anyways!! I think that was just rude on her part....
But i'd say call a truce..let it slide before things get out of hand. Its NOT worth it-not for something like that. If she's your best friend of 20 years I'm sure you guys will be fine.
Good luck :)
ps-one of my bridesmaids is missing both my shower and bach party (they are the same day) because she decided to plan an engagement party BBQ for herself for the same night...and her wedding is over a year away. Talk about HURT. I was so baffled at why she did that... :(

Re: weird....
people get really wierd/funny/jealous around wedding stuff. They stink. Try not to let it bother you. She's probably just in some really bad space herself, and doesn't even realize what's bothering her-ie: maybe she jealous of the wedding your planning, the attention that your getting, etc. Don't let her rain on your parade. But it doesn't mean that you need to walk on egg shells, I think it was fine that you said something. What I've come to find out, is that people think that they can say anything that they want to you-but the second you say something back, they get hysterical. Weird.

Posted by ML110 well she wrote back and said something like ' well i was very disappointed that the shower was on a sunday- things like should not be on sundays- sundays should be for church and God- not parties' QUOTE] if she feels that way fine, but didn't she leave for her FH's bday party?

Re: weird....
is she really religious or was this just an excuse? i would kind of overlook it now but remember this incident and others when it's her turn. weddings do cause people to act funny, whether it's because they are jealous, not interested in it, or could just care less. don't let her ruin your time!! surround yourself with the people who do care and are excited for you.

HA! My FMIL hinted that her family was “surprised” that my wedding is on a Sunday. “Sunday is a day for church and God” she said. That’s fine, but the wedding is at 5PM!!!!!! As far as I know, church services are a lot earlier than that. And if they want to pay an addition $25 pp to have it on a Saturday, be my guest!
Bottom line, you can’t please ‘em all. Some folks are into religion more than others.
