Weird Question

Weird Question

So I am making my monogram and shopping online for an initial cake topper and I realize that I don't plan on changing my last name. So while my monogram and cake topper will have an 'H' I am in fact a 'P'

Does this really matter? Can I still get all the 'H' stuff and pretend like I am changing it?

Its a weird question I know, I just never thought of it that way before.

Maybe do your first intials, both you and FH, instead of his last initial.

Hmm... that's tricky. I feel like most girls center around that monogram idea because theyre excited to change their name. Does everyone know youre not changing it? If they dont then I guess its okay to fake it.

ITA that would be the way to go. I don't think you should use wither initial for last names.

Only FH knows I am not changing it.. I mean I am going to change it eventually.. I'm just not ready yet lol. I will def change it before we have kids cause I want to have the same last name as them.

I'm not changing mine professionally but will on my personal stuff. I plan on using FH's last name because officially we will be the 'M' family. I toyed with the idea of just using our first initials but felt that in order to fit them, the monogram would be too small.

Oh then I think its totally fine to use his last initial.

I think that's totally fine to do. I'm not changing my last name and lots of people already know that, but I still intend to be introduced with FH's last name.

Personally I would avoid the monogram if you are not planning to change your last name.

I agree...to me a monogram signifies the excitement and meaning of taking on a new name...and if you aren't taking a new name, there's obviously a personal reason for it, whatever the case may be, but it would signify that not much excitement or meaning is being placed in the new name, and then a monogram would just feel like a kind of go with the flow but we're supposed to have a monogram type of deal...if that makes any sense?

um...i say do the monogram...I have a friend who has been married for over 10 years and never changed her name yet people still refer to her as Mrs...D even though she really is mS b still...I mean....at the reception you still are going to be introduced as mr & mrs H right? frig people and their rules....
