There is a makeup artist i reallllly like shes in Brooklyn... and well i live in Long island...shes not willing to commute for any price
so does anyone know on July 4th will the Belt Parkway be reallly stuck with traffic?? cuz of the fireworks/nyc rush..??? i dont want to take a chance and go all the way out to her and than NEVER make it back home..be stuck in traffic for 3hrs... thats a nightmare...but at the same time i feel really comfortable with her and she does an amazing job...
I usually stay local on july 4th... so dont know what the situations are with the highways etc..ESP the belt parkway which takes u too brooklyn?? any advice??

Re: weird question but anyone know
They close some of the highways in Manhattan early in the afternoon on July 4th to accommodate the fireworks viewers - not sure if this is the case in any of the other boroughs.
NO WAY I'd head out to Bklyn on my wedding day, especially on a holiday that can be full of traffic. Even if it just took you an hour, that's still two hours wasted on your wedding day. Have you tried looking for any other makeup people? I'm sure there is someone out there that would be willing to do it for you.

I wouldn't do it on my wedding day... first off, you have way too much chaos that day to commute that far anyways. Why make it more stressful or chaotic? The Belt is always a nightmare, and when you throw in a holiday like the 4th where people are going into the city for the fireworks, and out to the hamptons from the city and wherever else, you'll prob be stuck on it forever. I'd jus try a diff make up artist, I'm sure someone else is amazing out here. I'll FM u pics of my trial with Karen A that I have later, and if you like her you can give her a call

I live right off of the Belt Parkway [in Howard Beach] and it IS ALWAYS PACKED!! I come home from work at midnight every night driving the Belt and there is sometimes traffic on it at that hour!! Going both ways!! 4th of July will be insane! Please do not do this to yourself on your wedding day. And if the weather is bad- there is no telling how long it will take you! You will not need any added stress!! There are plenty of fabulous makeup people out there who will make you look gorgeous! Check out Jillian from Gorgeous Faces. She is in LI and travels to your home. Not to mention her rates are reasonable!! HTH! GL!
I WOULDN'T DO IT ON MY WEDDING DAY...ESPEC ON THE 4TH....

I think it sounds a little risky, I would try to find someone closer.

There is ALWAYS traffic on the belt! I live in Staten Island and though I love LI, I dread having to drive out there because of the traffic... the belts nick name is the belt parking lot! I would definitely go with a make up artist that's closer! The peace of mind alone is worth it!

I live in Brooklyn and second (third? eighth?) the opinion that on a NORMAL weekend it can take 2, 3 hours to get where I'm going in L.I. To make a round trip on July 4, on your wedding day, would add SO MUCH stress to you (not to mention time) that it just wouldn't be worth it. However nice this lady's makeup job might be, it's not worth all the stress lines, grey hairs, and bellyaches you're going to get from the trip.
As for public transportation... if it runs on a Sunday schedule which is usually the case on holidays, you'll have to wait a loooooong time getting from Brooklyn back into L.I.

Why on earth add even more stress to your wedding day. There are plenty of great makeup artists. I'd rather give up the 'makeup artist of my dreams' than be running around crazy, stuck in traffic, worrying about being late. The day will be hectic and stressful enough. Why add to that?
